I clutch onto Adrian's hand as we walk in. I feel very unsafe because of all the criminals that are in the same room as me. The room's noises are so overwhelming. Shuffling of papers, the cluttering of chairs. Yelling and shouting.
"I'd like to report attempted murder."
"Right, I'll make you fill in some copies and you'll be seeing a detective in a bit." He says as he hands Adrian the papers.
His eyes land on me and he looks at me curiously.
"Are you okay, miss?"
"I'll be better." I nod and force a smile.
We sit on a bench as Adrian fills in the forms. They're just asking about the time, date etc. Adrian was treating me like a kid the whole entire time, it made me look stupid but apart of me was happy I didnthave to do anything.
I held onto Adrian the whole entire time. At first it was our fingers entwine, but he needed to fill out the forms leaving my bare fingers in their own. I hugged onto his body as he filled put the forms because I just needed a source of comfort. Especially in the environment I was in, I felt so unsafe.
A man who was yelling and kept on violently fidgeting. He seems more violent than ever, it scared me. His hands are cuffed but he seems like he can just uncuff his arms and run loose. He wouldn't stop saying things like,
I'm coming for all of ya.
I'm going to kill you all!
You'll see it, you will all see it! It's coming.
When I'm out, I'll come for every person in this room. The guy stops and looks at me beofre laughing. The laugh becomes louder and louder the second. He just stares then he's forced to leave by an officer behind him.
"She's a catch." He says before leaving.
Now I'm even more terrified. I clutch onto Adrian body even tighter. I don't even wait to see his reaction. I always had a phobia for police stations. They always tipped over the edge.
My father worked at one and he always insisted I came for father daughter day. I went for the first time and I had a murder suspect's hands wrapped around my neck and a gun pointed to my head. Ever since, I never wanted to go to police stations. I was safer in the comfort of my bed while my dad took Wendy to the station.
But now I had to be here. It was a matter or life or death.
Adrian gets up to hand the paper in, I clutch onto his hand and follow behind. With what just happened, I couldn't be left alone. The man goes over the papers and just leaves. Rude, just like the desk lady at Adrian's workplace.
He comes back.
"He said he'd need to interogate the one who was in the scene?" The man says.
"That's me." I speak up.
"Let's go then, you can't go with anyone else."
"What? No. I can't go on my own. Can he come, I'm begging." I beg.
"I'm sorry, but no."
I look up to Adrian and he gives me a reassuring smile. I follow the man down the dark corridors. I don't like it here. I wish Adrian was here. I need a hand to hold onto.
The man stops at a metal door written IR. It probably stands for interrogation room. I'm that smart. I walk in to see another man and a woman with police badges hung in their necks. I take a seat opposite them.
"Hi, miss..?" The man speaks up
"Sofia. Just call me Sofia."
"Alright, Sofia. I'm sheriff Jones and this is special agent Kate. We're here to help you catch the man that attempted to kill you. We just have a few questions?"
I just nod.
"So, this is your ex fiancé right?" Kate speaks up.
"Yes, we broke up last night."
"When he came in, what weapon did he have?"
"A large knife."
"Did he say what his intentions were?"
"They were to kill Adrian but since he wasnt there. They were to kill me then commit suicide."
"Do you have any idea why he was acying like this?"
"I caught him cheating, then I broke up with him. I also told him I kissed his best friend."
"Hmm, interesting." Kate jots down.
"I understand you have some injuries?" Jones asks.
I nod and lift my arm up to show him my cut arm which hasn't been attended to yet.
"Where did you last see James?"
"The balcony of Adrian's house."
"What car does he drive and if you know, the number plate."
"A maroon Ford Ranger, I don't exactly remember the letters on his number plate but the numbers were 2836."
"Great. What was he wearing?"
"I'm not quite sure, but he had a black hoodie on.
"Thank you, Sofia. That will be all. We will send you and your boyfriend to a private location until this man is caught. Clearly the safest idea. Just to remind you, you will not in contact with any friends or family. We ,jght take you to California."
"I understand."
I get up and rush to hug Adrian. I miksed him warm embrace.
"How'd it go?" He asks.
"We're might be sent to a private location."
