"Maybe a white long sleeved one, it definitely has to be tight."

"Yes ma'am, how long do you want the dress?"

"It has to cover my toes, can it also have a lacy front?"

"Right away, ma'am."

With that the lady walks away with her clip board. Teya joins me on the seat. She collapses on the chair exhausting all her weight on it. She sighs whilst rubbing her temple.

"It is hard work organizing a wedding on my own."

"It wouldn't be so hard if you would let the organizer and I at least help."

"I do, you guys just don't do it perfectly. The way I want it."

"Teya! We do it the way you want it but you just look at the littlest mistakes."

"Because it has to be perfect. I don't get married fifty time, you know."

I sigh at her statement.

"I'm gonna go use the restroom."

I go in and just stare at the mirror. I didn't really need to pee, I just wanted to fix my hair. But it looks perfect. I tuck a few loose strands of hair behind my ear. I reapply some clear lip gloss before going back to Teya. She's staring at her phone, smiling suspiciously.

"Edwin?" I ask.

"No, it's Adrian."

"What?"

I look closer to the phone to realize it's my phone! I grab it from her before taking a look myself. Teyana had already replied!

Unknown Number

hey, if you still need help with your
speech, I'm free right now.
~Adrian.

Yep, I definitely still need help with
that speech, where can  we meet?

town library?

give me 5

and maybe we can talk things over?

let's stick to the speech for now.

I glare at Teya who's nervously looking at me.

"I should hate you right now, but you did good on answering. I really did need help with that speech." I say.

"And I really did need you to finish up that speech. I was desperate."

"I know."

The lady comes back with a few dresses. They all look the same if you ask me. I sit my butt down ready to judge my best friend's dress ideas. She looks at me.

"Aren't you supposed to be somewhere?"

"Yes, but you need help with your dresses."

"I'll be fine."

"Nope, you won't. I'm afraid you'll pick the wrong dress."

"I'll just call the organizer, it's okay. Plus my mom was already on her way."

"Fine, but I'm calling Wendy to stand in for me. We literally think alike."

....

"Hey." I quietly say.

"Hey, umm let's sit down and brainstorm some ideas."

I nod before taking a sit opposite from him.

"I'm happy for you and James."

"Yea, are you seeing anyone?"

"Yes actually, a girl called Cassie."

"How long have you guys been together?"

"Actually today's our year anniversary."

"That's so cute, but don't you think younshould be out there with her instead of helping me with some homework?"

"She's on a family vacation, plus it's alright. Just like the old times, me helping you with some assignments."

We laugh.

"Alright, so this should take an hour because I need to get back to Teya. She still needs my help even though she won't admit it."

"So Teyana is actually getting married?"

"Yep, and she has a kid too."

"Wow, she never seemed like the person who'd want to have a kid."

"Neither did I, she used to say once you have a kid you're too old."

"Who is getting married to?"

"Edwin Holden."

"Expected, they were always high school sweethearts." He smiles.

"So were we." He whispers to himself.

"Adrian."

"Sofia, I'm back just like I promised. I said I'd come back for you, why won't you take me back?"

"It's complicated, isn't it your anniversary today." I say looking away.

"You're right, I'm sorry. I just kinda lost it there."

We sit there and start putting in some ideas for the speech. Mainly Adrian just asking me questions then putting them down as ideas. We had done sixteen lines when I realized I was two hours late.

"Shit! I'm late."

"Same time tomorrow?"

"Tomorrow is Teyana's wedding."

"Next week?"

"Okay, and you should come to her wedding. She misses you."

He nods.

I quickly grab my bags and rush out the door. I leave Teyana a voicemail.

"Hey Teya, I'm on my way right now. Don't do anything drastic just yet, I want to be there!"
