"Oh, Sofia! I'm so happy for you!" My mother says hugging me tightly.

"You're finally getting married, took a while." Wendy smirks and I hug her.

"I know, in fact, what took you so long James?" I giggle.

"I didn't know if you wanted to, so Teyana's wedding was the perfect way to find out if you wanted to marry me."

"What do you mean?"

"The way you looked at Teyana and Edwin."

"So you're telling me, you were walking around with a box with a ring around waiting for the right moment?"

He nods.

I just giggle.

I'm so tired of people coming in and congratulating me. Some of these people I don't even know. I'm stealing the spotlight from the main reason why we're at this party in the first place. Teyana and Edwin. They look so happy right now, they're talking to people laughing and holding hands. Kisses here and there. They are honestly a marriage goal.

I need some fresh air, it's getting stuffy in here. I grab hold of my pirse and hold my silk rosé pink dress. I make my way to the door. It's already dark, maybe I should be getting home. I stop  and grab my phone to text my mom, Wendy and James to tell them I went home. Before I can even do much, a voice startles me.

"Sofia."

I slightly jump before turning back.

"Adrian." I say more to myself.

"Were you expecting someone else?" He chuckles.

"Sorry, I didn't mean it like that. It was just a moment of realization." I giggle and he smiles.

"Anyway what are you doing here? Last time I checked the party's in there." I smile pointing to the large building.

"I wanted to check on you, you seemed pretty tensed and uneasy in there before just leaving without another word." He says moving closer.

"So you were watching me?" I giggle.

"Can I take up you home? It's kinda dark and I'm worried you won't make it." He says.

"You always had little faith in me." I say before hopping into the car with him.

The car ride is silent, it's weird silent. He seems a little tensed. I hope this silence can last until we reach my house. Maybe I should just ask, but he beats me to it.

"Are you okay?" He asks me still focusing on the road.

"I should be asking you, you seem a little tensed." I say examining his jawline.

It's so sharp, James could never.

"I'm worried about you, you haven't been yourself lately."

I sigh in defeat.

"I don't know if it's normal, but I just feel like James isn't the one. Like he's not my soulmate. He's always talking about our kids. Don't get me wrong, heck yea I want kids. But not with James. Teyana and Edwin look so perfect when I look at them but I don't see-" I stop when Adrian squeezes my hand.

"I don't see that 'perfect picture' with James and I. I just see two people in one world forcing things to work. I just don't love him as much as I'm supposed to."

"I get you, and it's okay. Maybe if you talked to him about it."

"No way! Did you hear what he said when he proposed?! I didn't have the decency to say no with all the people watching. I was under pressure. It'd break his heart more if I told him now, in the car on our way to the after party he wouldn't stop talking about the wedding and our kids! He already named them!"

He chuckles.

"Just out of curiosity, what were the names?"

"Brianna and Sebastian."

"Do you like them?"

"No. Remember I once dated a Sebastian and Brianna is that-"

"'Stuck up bitch who tried to steal you from me'" He quotes from what I said when we were in high school.

"You listened."

"Duh."

We spend the whole car ride talking about the past and moments we had there. Maybe it is okay to bring the past into my present. Just maybe. He stops right by my house.

"This is me?"

"Yep."

We still sit in silence even though I'm already home. I look at him to realize our faces are only inches apart. I blink once and he grabs me making are lips collide. He's different. He moves passionately and slowly, savoring this moment. He takes sweet, unlike James had no taste at all.

Before I can really enjoy it, he moves away.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to-"

I cut him off by putting my lips back on him. He reacts quickly by exploring my mouth with his tongue. His free hand slides underneath my shirt but stops. I frown. I think he just realized something.

After a solid half an hour, I let go. Both of us are breathing heavily.

"Good night, Sofia." He smiles.

Shit, I fucked up.
