*sigh*
"Why is that door so far away like this?"
"I can't feel my feet."
"Can I really make it this time?"
"Life is worthless without them..."
"Can I survive for their sake?"
Those were the words of a hopeless young man who was still trying to obtain his friends' last will and trying with all his remaining energy, but without a drop of hope. What is the point as long as he doesn't try with his mind? And he starts himself to try to regain his hope?
"I'm so dizzy."
"Why can't I reach that door?"
No matter how many steps he takes, he does not advance towards the door, and the step is like the steps of a turtle.
After a few minutes...
"I'm...going...to reach... *huff huff* that ... door," said Josef while taking really heavy breaths, and then he fell to the ground without even realizing it.
After a while, he slowly opened his eyes and said,
"Where... where am I?"
*ambulance siren*
"Huh? What are these sounds?" he asked.
"Sir, Sir? Can you hear me, sir?"
"He opened his eyes! Call the doctor right now!"
"Sir, please stay with us!"
"They're so loud," Josef mumbled.
"Doctor! The patient said something!"
"Shut up..." Josef mumbled again.
"What did you say, sir?"
"I said shut up!!" Josef shouted.
*silence*
"Doctor, he's in a better situation right now; the bleeding has stopped and the heart rates have returned to normal."
"Bleeding...? By the way, I can't feel my leg", then Josef started to realize his situation by looking at his surroundings.
"I'm in the hospital, as I thought, but why am I here?"
The doctor came towards Josef and said, "Sir, the diagnosis of your condition now is as follows: Your heart stopped for twenty seconds, but we were able to control it, but what we couldn't control was severe bleeding in the left foot, so we had to, unfortunately, amputate your left foot below the knee by five centimeters."
Then Josef said, "Are you kidding me right now? Then why are you saying it so coldly, as if it's a leg of a chicken?"
"I apologize, sir."
"Is that all you have? Who did this to me?" Josef asked.
"...Don't you remember anything, sir?"
"No, I don't; did I get hit by a car or something?"
The doctor said, "I have to make a call; please wait over here, sir." Then the doctor walked away.
"Hmmm... So I'm disabled now? Actually, it's pathetic, but why didn't I panic at least? *Phht* If it were Mazen, he would be dead and not just panicked. Oh, by the way, how could they know that I'm here and didn't come to visit? Where's my phone? I'm going to scold them," Josef thought. Then he saw a nurse, so he asked her, "Excuse me, do you know where my phone is?"
"I'm sorry, sir; you didn't have anything when we found you. You had just a long stick," the nurse said.
"A long stick? Anyway, can I use your phone to call a friend? I think I know the phone number," Josef confusedly said.
"Sure, sir, but you should call from the reception on the first floor. Since you can't move, you can use my phone, but please don't tell the doctor because I can get into trouble."
"Thank you so much! I appreciate it!" Then Josef entered Peter's phone number.
*The mobile phone you have called is wrong or doesn't exist in your country; please check the number and try again.*
"Huh? I'm sure this is the number. Then I'll try to call Shadi; he's always available."
*The mobile phone you have called is wrong or doesn't exist in your country; please check the number and try again.*
"What? That's strange. What about Mazen?"
*The mobile phone you have called is wrong or doesn't exist in your country; please check the number and try again.*
The nurse came to Josef again and said, "I'm really sorry; I need the phone; the doctor is coming."
"Oh...o-okay", Josef stammered, then he continued to think, "What happened? I'm sure these numbers are correct; did something happen to them? I'm worried-"
The doctor interrupted his thoughts, saying, "Sir, I suspect that you have lost part of your memory due to a strong blow to the brain, so I immediately called a neurologist to check the condition of your brain, and we will use x-rays of your head to confirm the condition of the brain. But we want any parent of yours to confirm their consent to the surgery, if needed."
"Oh...really?" Josef exclaimed.
"Can you remember the phone number of your parents?" The neurologist said.
"I am an orphan," Josef replied.
"I'm sorry, then do you know any phone numbers we can call? An aunt? An uncle? A cousin? A friend? Anyone?" The doctor asked.
"Ah yes, I know seven phone numbers; they are my friends."
"Great, could you please say them?""+20 10********"
*The mobile phone you have called is wrong or doesn't exist in your country; please check the number and try again.*
"Hmm, Can you say another one?"
"+20 11********"
*The mobile phone you have called is wrong or doesn't exist in your country; please check the number and try again.*
"Sir, are you sure of these numbers?"
" Yes, I'm sure. I can forget my name, but these numbers."
"Okay, let's try another one."

And then, after trying the other numbers, they are all giving the same response...
"What are we going to do, Doctor?" The neurologist asked.
"Let's just do the X-rays for now until we find any contact, so your name is Josef, right, sir?" The doctor asked Josef.
"Yes, how did you know that?"
"The police did some research about you," the doctor replied.
"Police? Can I ask something? Where did you find me? And what happened to me? And my friends, were they with me in the accident?"
"It seems like you have got a lot of questions; unfortunately, I can't answer them now as the police asked me to," the doctor said.
"What on earth happened to me? The police found me. Did I do something that I can't remember? Or were I kidnapped? What happened to me?"
to be continued...
