A/N: Hello~ So, I'm not dead. I'm just on break and have been reading like crazy. It's truly unhealthy. *clears throat* Anyways, here's a new chapter for you muffins. Unfortunately, there's only two more "chapters" after this: Chapter ten and the final epilogue.
Get ready to cry and aw with me, guys! T^T
PS; I can't figure out the spacing. It's gotten all weird with the new writing update. Sorry, guys!
Chapter Nine
Kelly and I went on more dates after that. Granted, it was only a few because he was training for the spring swim season, but it was always fun. He took me to lunch to little hole-in-the-wall places, and we went for walks along the various trails around our area. They weren't as extravagant as our aquarium date, but I almost liked these ones more. The quiet little dates we went on around the neighborhood gave me the sense of privacy with Kelly.
Even more than that, he would give me little kisses during lunch because I told him I didn't really like PDA. He smiled at that and agreed with me. He held my hand between classes though. At first, people would buzz around and talk about it, but now, it was old news. People got over the shock after a week, and I was more than relieved.
We were a bit of a weird pairing though. Kelly was outgoing and popular, and I was just a quiet soul that didn't talk to anyone outside of group projects.
"I finally had time to read that book you gave me for Christmas."
I looked up at him from my sandwich. "Yeah? Did you like it?"
"Some parts were really weird, but I never pegged you to be a horror person!"
I smiled sweetly at Kelly. "But it was good, right?"
I had nearly forgotten that I had given Kelly a copy of Another for Christmas. I had obsessed over the manga and anime after my sister had shown them to me. I never personally read the book, but if the manga and anime were anything to go by, the novel was just as good—if not, better.
"I never would have thought that she was the extra person! She never seemed out of place whatsoever!"
I chuckled and let Kelly rave about the book. I had the same reaction when the extra person had been revealed to me. I was practically screaming at my laptop, and Dani had rushed in to see what was wrong with me. She laughed when I told her why I was shouting.
"The author needs to make another sequel or something," Kelly groaned at the end of his tirade. "I want more."
"He has other books, I think. I never read them, but I'm sure they're just as amazing."
He made more grumbling noises as he pouted that Another was over. I smiled to myself and quickly finished my sandwich. Kelly finished his lunch as well, and the bell rang soon after. He looked at me when it rang.
"I don't want to go to class," he whined.
"Well, you have to. If I have to endure art history, then you have to endure physiology."
He hmph'ed in reluctance before stealing a quick kiss from my lips. Taking my hand, he walked me to class and tossed our trash along the way. He left me at the door with a small smile, which I returned. As soon as I was in the door, he made his way to his own class.
I smiled to myself and went to my seat. The lecture today was slightly boring, but I took my notes nonetheless. Our teacher made one final announcement at the end of class.
"As you all know, this weekend is Valentine's Day. So, to those of you who are interested, the art club will be doing the window paintings this afternoon for the occasion."
