the convention center roared with cheering as your name was called onto the stage. upon grabbing your diploma, you waved to the crowd, smiling from cheek to cheek as you waltzed down the stairs. you never felt so proud.

walking back to your seat with the rest of your class you scanned the audience for sae, but unfortunately due to the sea of people, you caught no sight of him. your stomach fluttered with disappointment, maybe he wasn't able to go?

after the ceremony ended, you went to the section you were assigned to for lei giving. you said hello to your family and gave thanks to them for coming to watch your graduation. in an instant your neck was surrounded by leis, a weight on your shoulders you were unfamiliar to.

you continued to look through every person in the room, waiting to see your lover, but still no luck. you were able to congratulate and give your friends leis, but the clock was ticking and soon you would have to board the bus for project grad. "[y/n]!"

a cheery voice called through the crowd, a girl around your height dressed in the same regalia as you came running towards you, her too covered in leis. she pounced onto you, enveloping you into a hug. "ama! i didn't see you when i was giving out leis to everyone, where's koa?"

you gently put the lei around ama's neck, her doing the same to you. "koa?" ama frantically turned her head, "he was just with me, maybe he saw one of his friends and went off."

ama and koa, twins, two of your best friends. they helped make high school enjoyable, you were so thankful they stuck with you through it all.

"wassup you fakahs," koa snuck behind you both, throwing his arms around your shoulders.

"you sound so icky when you talk pidgin," ama retorted, scrunching her face in disgust. you lei'd him as well, snickering at his twin sister's comment.

now it was koa who was looking around the large amount of people, "where's your boyfriend?"

just as those words left his mouth, you felt a tap on your shoulder. you turned your head: sae. he came.

"what the hell," you spat instantly, "holy shit?"

immediately you wrapped your arms around sae, feeling as his snaked around your waist. "i told you i'd try to come." he leaned down, gently kissing you before pulling away to give you a lei. behind him stood shidou and aiku who too had leis in their hands for you.

you greeted them both, introducing the three of them to ama and koa. shidou and koa starting goofing off, you figured that would happen as they had similar personalities. ama just stared at sae, pursing her lips and furrowing her brows.

"i don't like you," she said, her face dropping to an expressionless stars. "if you break her heart, you'll never see the light of day ever again."

sae reluctantly put his arm around you, "i think we'll be fine," his voice monotone yet still emotion laced beneath.

you turned to sae once more, "thank you for coming."

"anything for you."
