"Talk? Talk about what?" Aiden asked, still squinting his eyes tirelessly.
James let out a deep sigh, he wasn't sure how to bring up the topic. The last thing he wanted was to make Aiden uncomfortable, but this sorta thing can go unnoticed. It could result in something much worse. He was going to try his best to comfort his boyfriend, especially if his suspicions were right.
"Aiden, I'm sorry to wake you up," James said softly. "I just...-" James took a moment and let out a deep sigh. "Have you relapsed?"
Aiden suddenly froze for a moment, as he realized he's been caught. Furthermore, Aiden stuttered and tried to form words. He was scared of what to say, or do. He knew James wouldn't be upset with him, but from his past experiences with friends and family, he couldn't help get worried that James would get mad at him.
"I- N-no, I haven't." Aiden lied, too afraid to own up to his own feelings. He looked down, fidgeting with his fingers, biting his lip to keep it from quivering, he felt like he was on the verge of tears.
James obviously knew when his boyfriend was lying, and he could also tell how extremely nervous Aiden was, by the way his was fidgeting, refusing to look at James. It was painfully obvious. James grabbed a hold of Aiden's chin, forcing his head to tilt up gently. "Baby, look at me." James smiled softly at him, trying to give Aiden that reassurance.
Aiden struggled to maintain eye contact, as it was something he struggled with. It seemed like every time he would look into James's eyes, he would immediately look away out of fear.
"Please. I'm not angry. Just tell me the truth." James begged, desperately wanting to comfort Aiden.
Aiden let in a harsh breath, shuddering as his lip quivered. He looked up at James, whom he'd been waiting patiently, not rushing, or judging Aiden's actions and behavior. "I-
Aiden managed to say before his eyes got watery, feeling big tears stream down is face like heavy rain on a car window. James pulled Aiden by his shoulders, to being the boy closer to himself, hugging the now crying boyfriend. Seeing Aiden like this was enough to break his heart into a million pieces, but only upon hearing his words, made those pieces shattered more into dust.
"I'm sorry! I-I didn't mean to! Don't be mad!" Aiden cried out, clinging onto James broad shoulders.
James felt his shirt damped where Aiden's tears were falling down on, from his beautiful green eyes. However, he did not care, Aiden could have cried a River, and James would've still made a boat, to cross that river, just to get to him. Just to hug him.
"I'm not mad! I could never be mad at you. It was an accident, it's okay, Aiden." James whispered into his boyfriend's ear. "Just tell me what happened, baby." James rubbed onto Aiden's back.
"...I got fired, and I called Tess and them about getting started on that band, but they were talking about making a studio and apparently forgot that I wasn't living with you... They were extremely nice, but I just started overthinking again. I'm so stupid!" Aiden cried, letting go of his boyfriend, covering his face with his hands. He didn't want James to see his crying face and swollen eyes.
"Aiden! You're not stupid! It was an accident, accidents happen." James grabbed hold of Aiden's hands, taking them gently off of his face.
"I'm sorry! It won't happen again! I just started think that maybe you didn't like me anymore, and maybe you lost feelings for m-
"Aiden, you are the love of my life. You are my soulmate. I would never lose feelings for you. I love you too much, more than you understand. You're my everything." James said, slightly choking on his own words as he felt himself started to cry.
