Finally, At last. This horror was over, or at least we thought it would. Natalie was hysterical at this point. I packed as fast as possible making a poor attempt at not sobbing every few seconds. I just want to see my mom. I need to know I'm safe, and I always am in her arms.

Natalie and I decided to wait for dawn so we could see if the eyes of a serial killer gleamed in the morning sun rather than panic while driving at the witching hour. The morning came slower than the turtle that won the race against the hare. It was a silent day. We just needed to get out of this wretched place. We threw our stuff in the trunk and headed out. I really didn't need a speeding ticket so I still drove the speed limit.

That quiet, thin, gravel road seemed a million miles away when in reality it was two miles away. The eighteen kilometres through the trees was even quieter than before. No music, no Sarah laughing at something Natalie said. No Tanya rolling her eyes at my various jokes. Just silence. And a few hushed sobs from Natalie. Eighteen kilometres took centuries. I saw the light shining from the highway.

We were finally free from this hell. Done with it. We hoped.. Just a few more kilometres and we were gone. Gone from a living nightmare.. Hell on earth.. Off to college. As soon as we felt we were at a safe distance from the lake house I pulled over and called the police and a funeral home, along with Sarah and Tanya's parent's. I hated having to tell them their children are dead, murdered, in such horrid ways.
