Career Day. My favourite. Everyone brings in a family member to talk about their job. It was an event I loved putting together, my class always enjoyed it. Almost everyone was excited about this. Almost everyone.

"Hey MJ, how are you holding up?" I smiled at her. She hasn't spoken to her parents since her mom lost her shit.

"Um ok, I guess. I'm going to have to lose the grade but that's all I can do right?" MJ looked up at me, a faint smile on her lips.

"That's going to bring your grade down a lot MJ. Is there another family member you can bring in?" I asked gently. She sighed and shook her head. Suddenly I had an idea.

"What if I called Hailee in? You can say she's your cousin or something?" She looked at me surprised.

"She's definitely too busy to come in and do that Ms.Jackson, I don't want to disturb her from her work" she smiled sadly.

"Hailee is currently sitting on my couch watching some random show. She's free for a while hun, she won't mind. I promise." I placed my hand on her shoulder. After a few minutes, she agreed to the idea and I stepped outside to call Hailee.

I know but with what went down with her mom, you know neither of her parents are gonna show up. Her grade will drop drastically. She needs this boost.

With that, we both hung up. I walked up to MJ and smiled.

"Hailee will be here soon" I winked at her and walked to the front of the room.

"We are waiting for one more person and then we can start! For now, just mingle and get to know one another!" I smiled and sat back at my desk. Once I got to my desk, Anna walked up to me.

"Hello Anna," I said.

"We have a problem," Anna said looking worried.

"What?"

"Some people saw the 'interaction' between you and MJ and they think something is going on between you guys." I couldn't help myself, as soon as she said that I busted out laughing. That drew lots of attention to us.
