36. Her Birthday

" Nhi Sidharth " Shehnaaz spoke on the phone.
Sighing she sat on the chair in her cabin, And switched on the AC feeling extremely hot in 45° , Ambala can never be Cold she has concluded, it was just 15 May and if this continues the temp would reach 53 she was sure by mid June.

" Kyun Shehnaaz " He asked sighing, Celebrating Birthday's were what she loved, even after Her Father left her she never hesitated celebrating her birthday because she knew her Father would be happy! What changed he had no idea.

It was 2 days he has been trying to make her agree for a holiday which she is denying the reason he had been sitting in his cabin cancelling his leaves which he applied in a sullen mood.

" Because I don't want Sidharth, Anyways After Dr. Dhiman's transfer there has been hell of a responsibility on me, I can't go for 3 days all of a sudden that too for a very stupid reason " She scoffed, although she was happy with his attempts to be like old times but some things are better left as they are at present, Mending them often breaks that.

" Stupid reason.... It's your 27th Birthday Shehnaaz, It's anything but Stupid yaar " He spoke irritated on himself now, as she was hell bent on not understanding

" One year down from my life, why should I celebrate " She spoke, getting pissed off, she don't like celebrating Birthday's nowadays except going to Old Age home with Abhi and that's because Sidharth was the one to shout the loudest every time, screaming and enjoying as if it was his birthday instead of her and she knew she would miss him if she cut the cake back then in Pune.

" Because I used to love celebrating it " He spoke and she could sense the pain behind his voice.

He never celebrated his own birthday, Cake cutting was something he disliked on his birthday, Back when they were young they used to buy a packet of Melody and distribute it to the children roadside and then donate 1/4th of whatever pocket money he had then.
But With Shehnaaz he was different, Enjoying on her birthday as his own, getting her a gift, keeping it a surprise was what in medical terms gave him the adrenaline rush and to be honest he wanted the same fun again

These 7 years he had always made sure to cut cake for her in the orphanage he would visit on his own birthday and there's still a stock of gifts left untouched in his almirah bought every year for her.

He had missed her, although he never showed it to anyone but he did, The reason Shanvi was close to him was because she could see through his soul, In those 6 months she always felt he missed someone but is just not opening up and when she was finally able to crack him up, he became the version that he was with Shehnaaz, raw and open be

It wasn't because of Love that connected him and Shanvi but it was Way more than the world to understand, he understood her love for Hariesh and she understood the importance of Shehnaaz in his life and how her absence affected him, Enough to live a lifetime together but He wasn't selfish to hold on to that

He never loved Shanvi in a Romantized way yet she was special and he wasn't ready to let go of it but at the same time he could sense Shehnaaz getting insecure and he sighed.

" You did And I don't Sidharth, Present Wins over Past " She spoke after contemplating for a moment. She could feel his mood getting hampered but spending time alone with him only meant her feelings getting hurt.

She needed to keep herself above him this time.
She needed him in her life, he was the reason he still believed in family yet she cannot hurt herself everytime on the path to reach out to him, the years she was away she was happy believing him leading a happy life with his wife yet here seeing him struck there hurts more than she thought it did.
