2 years later
"Shehnaaz," he said once her phone was answered. It took him five calls for her to finally pick up.
"Dr. Sidharth, Dr. Shehnaaz is in the OT," someone spoke before he could even utter a word.
"Nancy, it's been hours," Sidharth sighed, throwing himself onto the sofa in their small home in Dehradun.
Yes, they had shifted here last year. They opened a small clinic, which over time had grown into a successful hospital with four blocks. Sidharth was the chairman and director, and Shehnaaz managed all the finances.
"I know, but it's an aortic aneurysm rupture," the person said.
Nancy, currently 25, was in her second year of junior residency and worked under Shehnaaz. She was a sweet girl, and both of them were fond of her. Sidharth had thought about sponsoring her postgraduate studies because she was an orphan, just like Abhi. He wanted to help them out because he knew how tough it could be; it had taken him 20 years of hard work to reach where he was now.
"God!" he sighed, he just had seen one of that and it was the worst of his entire life.
"I will tell Dr. Mujhe bata do," Nancy asked.
"Tell her to call me immediately once she gets free," he said and ended the call.
He closed his eyes for a moment, but his phone rang, and he sighed, picking it up. Being a chairman wasn't easy.
"Ab kya hai?" he sighed into the phone.
"Sid, kahan hai yaar? I can't hide it anymore!" someone yelled.
"Chutiye ho kya, ek cheez handle nahi ho rahi," he shouted.
"Abe o," the person yelled back.
"Fuck off, Abhi," Sidharth shouted at him."Tum dono miyan biwi ne dukhi kar rakha hai, saala acha khasa fauj mein tha main, kahan aa gaya," Abhi sighed.
"Ho gaya?" Sidharth asked.
"Bro, it's tough to hide it from her. She will kill me if she even gets the slightest idea," Abhi said.
"She will not, just a few hours more. She's in the middle of an operation and has no idea," Sidharth said confidently.
"Are you sure?" Abhi asked. "You have been acting excited for almost a week now," he added, and Sidharth again had that wide smile on his face.
"Usko chhod, how are you?" Sidharth asked.
"Good," Abhi said after a moment of silence.
"Leaving the Airforce was a good decision at this point in my life. I won't meet a certain someone again," Abhi said.
"Only if it's not you who arranges that meeting for me," he added with a slight smirk." She is still in contact with me " Sidharth added
" I know, she adored you back then too if that wasn't a lie as well " Abhi spoke, a smirk on his lips, he wasn't over her, He can never be over her but it was just he was over the fact that he ever loved her.
" She does Abhi! " Sidharth sighed
" Good for her " Abhi answered" You should move past it dude " Sidharth advised
" Says who, Joh aaj tak Tathagat ko lekar baitha hai , har jhagde main aa jaata hai voh tumhare " Abhi added and Sidharth smiled, that was true actually
