Mayson's POV:
"You're invited to a gala? And you're going to be on the cover of a magazine!" Mary Anne said as Stacey told us about a gala she was invited to. Me and her were on the purple chair. I had my head in her lap and my arm covering my eyes because I had a migraine.
"It's for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. My doctor is on board and nominated me to be cover girl for the month." Stacey explained.
"A gala? Being a cover girl? Stacey, you are the fanciest person in Stoneybrook." Mary Anne said. Then the phone rang.
"Hello, Baby-Sitters Club. This is Kristy Thomas, president and founder, speaking."
"And there's, like, one more kind of, sort of cool thing. The JDRF is letting me put on a fashion show at the gala." Stacey told us and everyone shrieked making my head hurt more.
"Hey." Kristy said to shut them up since she was on the phone. "All right, Mrs. Johanssen. Sunday afternoon, 2:00 p.m."
"Stacey, you're free on Sunday, right?" Mary Anne asked.
"No, too many fashion shows and cover shoots." Jessi joked.
"You guys, stop. Yes, I can, Kristy." Stacey said. "This fashion show isn't to model couture. It's to auction off these pouches." She explained. I felt her reach over me into her bag and I felt fabric touching my stomach but I didn't care enough to let the lights hurt my eyes and make my migraine worse. "People with diabetes like to keep their testing kits in these, plus emergency snacks and juice in case their blood sugar is running low." She said.
"These are so unfortunate-looking. I wish I could decorate them like I did yours." Claudia said.
"You can. I was thinking we could all come up with a design to make the pouches functional and cute, then, Claudia, you, me, and Mayson can execute it." Stacey told us.
"I love a BFF collab!" Claudia said, Stacey grabbed my hand that wasn't on my eyes and the three of us high-fived.
"Mayson, are you even listening?" Kristy asked.
"Uh- huh."
"Who would model them?" Dawn asked.
"I was thinking maybe you guys would?" Stacey asked.
"What? Me? Model? In front of a bunch of rich, snobby people?" Kristy asked "Hello? No!"
"It's for a good cause." Stacey told her.
"Fine. But I'm not wearing a dress." Kristy told her.
"Fine by me." Stacey said.
"Yeah, same as Kristy." I said.
"I know." Stacey replied.
"Wait, when is this?" I asked.
"The weekend after this." Stacey told us.
"Oh, I have chemo." I said.
Throughout the weeks Stacey's blood sugar was all over the place, but of course she thought she could handle it. Causing her to be all mean at the gala and then not being able to give her speech. Kristy had a plan to show our mom she was okay with her and Watson having a baby! Apparently that's happening! I had chemo the day of the gala, so I spent the whole day at the hospital and then laid in my bed throwing up, sleeping, and watching netflix on my macbook the whole weekend, being on facetime with Stacey some and Kristy coming in my room to lay with me a little.
