Mayson's POV:
A wave of nausea passed over me, I felt a migraine begin to form, my body, mainly my arm and back, began to ache at a Monday's meeting in March. I was on the ground in front of Stacey who was on the bed. I laid on my back, bent my knees upward, and covered my eyes. The past couple of months I've had some issues walking every once in a while, but nothing noticeable to my mom, Kristy, or Stacey. The girls talked about Mary Anne and Logan's relationship where they weren't using labels.
"MayMay, you okay?" Stacey asked.
"You look a little pale." Kristy added.
"Fine." I lied.
"You sure? I can get Charlie to come get us right now." Kristy said.
"Kris, I'm fine." I felt someone come down beside me and feel my cheeks.
"Claudia, go get her some water." Stacey said. "You're burning up." She added. I heard Claudia get off the bed and walk out.
"I'm fine." I hate when people are worrying about me like this.
"No, you're not, now stop acting like me and let us worry about you." Kristy said. I felt her come sit beside me.
"Here." Claudia said.
"Sit up." Kristy instructed. I uncovered my eyes and tried my best but all my energy was gone.
"Come here." Stacey said pulling me into her lap so that I was propped against her. She took the water from Kristy and held it to my mouth forcing me to take a sip. She put it down next to us as Kristy felt my forehead.
"Oh my god, Mayson!" She grabbed my phone and used my face to unlock it. She typed a message and sent it. My phone dinged signaling a reply and Kristy checked it. "Mom's on her way." She told me. I groaned and wrapped my arms around my body as it ached more. My mom took me to the ER, where I had to get a CT, an MRI, and blood work to check for brain tumors, tumors or other cancers in the rest of my body, my red and white blood cell count, and other forms of cancer in my blood. In the 6 hours I've been here I've started throwing up.
I got moved to the cancer center where I had to spend the night. Mom had Watson bring my phone charger, MacBook, blankets, a pillow, and my fox plushie with a little blanket type thing as the body that i've had since birth. I take it to every hospital visit, every doctor's appointment, I can't sleep without it, and I hold it when I cry myself to sleep.
As soon as the MRI results were in I was rushed into surgery for a tumor in my back. I was terrified, I could end up paralyzed or dead. My legs could be permanently damaged in a way other than paralyzation.
Kristy's POV:
When Watson came at 5 to give Mayson the things my mom asked him to bring he had to take me home as well, but I didn't fall asleep that night. I was worried she couldn't move when we were in Claudia's room and me and Stacey both had to help her to the car as she could hardly walk. At 11 my mom called me.
"Is she okay?" I asked when I answered.
"She'll be okay. She had to go in for emergency surgery. There's a tumor in her back, but she'll be fine, kristy. I'll call you as soon as she's out, but it'll be a few hours, so go to bed." She told me. I didn't go to bed for another hour that I spent researching spinal surgery and it scared me, which isn't something I like to admit. I texted Stacey, knowing Mayson wouldn't mind her knowing.
President Kristy T.: Tumor in her back. In emergency surgery. Don't tell anyone this, I'm terrified for her.
Stacey POV:
I got off the bed and sat down next to Mayson, I put my hand to her cheek. It felt like a laptop after being used for almost 2 hours. Of course she acted like I do when my sugars are messed up and Kristy when she's sick, but she was too sick to fight us on it as much as me and Kristy do. She was too sick to sit up on her own so I put her in my lap. When her mom got there me and Kristy helped her stand up, we basically supported her the whole way to the car. Kristy texted me at 12 am which I woke up for, it was about Mayson.
Sis's Bae: What are the risks?
President Kristy T.: Paralysis, death
*Sis's Bae calling*
"She'll be okay." I said. "She always is."
"What if this time it's different?" Kristy asked. "Most survive for 1 year after diagnosis and only 30% for 5 years or more." She said.
"But she's young. And it says there is only a 5 percent possibility of paralysis." I told her. "I promise you Mayson will be fine and back to herself by next week." I added. "We can stay on the phone until she gets out." I offered.
"Please."
So that's what we did, we both fell asleep almost an hour later. 30 minutes after we woke up to get ready for school, Kristy got a call saying Mayson was out and as far as they knew fine.
Mayson's POV:
I woke up from surgery at 6 AM in alot of pain, really sore, and tired. I got pain medicine and then later in the day I got checked to make sure the nerves in my legs were intact. Thankfully they were, that was one of the main things that worried me. I got discharged 2 days later, but I had to walk with crutches for 2 or 3 weeks. The club made a gift basket for me with candy and soda. I was on bed rest for 2 days after getting discharged as well.
