Chapter 35

Alex's POV

Blood, my hands are covered in blood, Sage's blood, I looked up towards the room they just wheeled her into and my heart breaks.

I still see her bruised body in my mind, she had been going through a lot and she never told anyone, that bastard had been abusing her.

We arrived here about an hour ago and the doctors hadn't said anything yet, I was beginning to worry.

The napkin from the restaurant wasn't a prank, it was a call for help and we ignored it, my chest tightens at the fact that I could have saved her from this if I had acted faster.

The door suddenly opens revealing a doctor, I stand up and walk towards him

"Doctor how is she"? I ask panic evident in my voice

"We've managed to stop the bleeding but she needs to go into surgery because we need to bring out the dead foetus in her womb" he explains to me.

Foetus? Was she pregnant? I run my hands through my hair

"Doctor, was she pregnant"? I ask dreading the answer.

"Yes she was, three weeks gone" he explains to me "we need someone to sign the consent form before we commence surgery" he tells me

She was pregnant for that bastard and he did this to her
"I'll sign it" I tell him not minding the looks I was getting.

He leads me to his office where I sign the form and hand it back to him.
I go back to sitting and waiting for the surgery to be over so I can know how she's doing, at least see her.

"How is she"? Tony asks sitting down beside me

I just breath out "I don't know, she's in surgery" I explain to him trying to keep my voice as calm as possible "how did you know"? I ask him

He just sighs before answering "she called me and told me she needed my help, she sounded restless, at first I thought it was a prank call or something, but then I think he caught her and the next I heard was her screaming" he explains making me close my eyes and take a shaky breath.

"She'll be fine man" he says patting my shoulder but i think he knows the real truth, I'm scared.

"She was pregnant for him and he did this to her, he had been abusing her, Tony she's covered in bruises" my voice coming out low.

He doesn't say anything and just let's me talk
"Tony he branded her, he fucking branded her with his name" I choke out and the tears I had been holding just slips out of my eyes.

I had seen it when I wanted to bring her out of my car, his name was burnt into her skin on her stomach.

Tony puts his hands around my shoulder trying to calm me down but my whole body just trembles at my crying.

I don't wanna lose her, I can't lose her.
I'm scared, I've never been this scared in my life, even the night I had a gun pointed to my head when Tony was forced to get down with Anna, I wasn't this scared.

"She's going to be fine Alex, pull yourself together" he says trying to cajole me.

"Tony I can't lose her, I just can't" I tell him my voice croaky from my crying

"And you won't, right now you need to go wash off the blood on you and get a change of clothes"

I shake my head not wanting to leave her side, if she were to wake up, I wanted to be here to see her.

"Alex you can't stay like this" he tells me.

"I will wash it off in the bathroom here but I'm not leaving her side, I'll change my clothes when I'm sure she's fine" I tell him getting up and heading towards the bathroom to wash off the blood.
