4 Brothers

Chapter 8

Aki POV
The first thing I hear in the morning is knocking. As I look to the window, my eyes started to focus and I see Ryō standing on my window frame again.
I almost fall out of bed as I let out a surprised yelp. "Do you have to wake me up that way every day?" I ask him kind of annoyed.
"I wouldn't have to if you would just wake up on your own" he's answering but the weird thing is, he's not looking at me directly but focusing on something else, as I follow his eyes I see that he is looking at the egg.
I probably know what he is thinking but I decide that it's better if I don't say anything at all, so I turn around and start putting on my clothes. Everyone of my brothers have a typical style.
Yukio for example is always wearing something close to the skin, mostly black with a lot of pockets, he says when he's trying to blend in with the dark something flattering is unpractical. Haruki on the other side is wearing something typical samurai like, sometimes it's a bit to noticeable.
It's almost like an armour but lighter and less metal he really likes the Color dark blue so he's combining it with a lot of things.
Ryōtaro is normally wearing something like a tank top and sloppy trousers in his opinion clothes are just working against his agility. He also likes the colours beige and yellow.
I am mostly wearing a green and red Yukata that's the cool part, I don't have to look, if stuff is unpractical.
Ryō is now standing at table with the egg and is picking it softly "so there's a a real dragon inside huh?" he asks.
"Well I think so, I can't look inside you know, I still have to learn that ability".
"Learn? I thought you could just control the earth?" Ah shit I haven't told them about the wind thing yet and I actually don't know if I can learn more but maybe..."Aki you there?" He is waving his hand right before my face "Ah sorry my head was in the clouds... I don't know maybe if I try hard enough?".
His brows are lifted, so he doesn't believe a thing I'm saying "where are you?" Haruki is yelling "I gotta go" I say as I take the egg and put it in my fanny bag.
As I sprint down the stairs. It's like a deja vū, I ran down the stairs and see Yuki just a second before I crush into him... but suddenly my instincts are working on themselves. I let the wind circle around myself so I don't crash into him.
Now we are standing back to back, as I turn around he's already looking at me with a face full of confusion, as he opens his mouth to say something I'm already running into the kitchen
Wow I feel like a complete idiot
"You okay Aki?" Haruki says as I jump back
"you shouldn't move you're shoulder like that" I look at him "uhh yeah sorry" he looks at me worried.
Now there are Ryō, Yuki and Haru standing in front of me and everyone looks with a face full of confusion and worry, but before I can say anything our father steps inside and puts a hand on my shoulder "let's start the training, you take to long" with that he turns around and pulls me with him.
I have to sit out because I can't train with this arm I but before any of us could do any training the ground starts to rumble and there's a loud noise almost like stones crashing together it's a explosion.
Everyone of us stood up and looked to the huge cloud that is spreading across the sky
"The City is being attacked?" Haru asks
before anyone can say anything, there's another explosion and I instinctively try to cover my head
One look to our master was enough, Ryō was already running to the gate as I'm about to follow him Yuki is pushing me away with one of his Hands against my chest "what do you think you're doing idiot, you're still injured"
"but I "I start to reply but before I can finish our master interrupts. "Haruki, Ryōtaro, Yukio go" more was not necessary in the blink of an eye my brothers were away.
As I turn around to confront my master he already took my not injured arm and brought me back into the Temple. I am more than confused my Master is running through our home as I stand in the middle of our entrance.
More explosions can be heard and even if the village is a view minutes away from here, I can hear screams. Before anything happens my master is back in front of me with two bags. „listen closely, the thing I trained you four for is happening right now
and I'm really sorry to tell you, but you are probably a big part of it" he says but I don't understand,
I know we were trained to protect our village one day but I never thought it would be this serious, I always thought I just be like a better trained policeman or something, I can feel how my body starts to shake as my master continues „those people are here for this" he points at the dragon egg in my bag
"and they won't leave you alone until they get it and I know that you probably won't give it away that easily right?"
I just nod my head and grip the egg trigger to my body "so you have to be fast, go in the forest and to the beach, I know it's a long way, probably a week or two but after that you have to cross the sea and go to Fukunawa, but they will follow you so you have to be careful and maybe even fight against them"
"what is with my brothers?" I interrupt him it's the only thought that crosses my mind
"well they have to protect the city that's their duty, yours is to go now alright? Be careful my son" he hugs me very tightly and I can tell how my eyes are getting watery.
As I take the bags and run to the gate that crosses the forest, I take one last look back to the place I long called home, this is gonna be long travel.
At some point, while I cross the forest, I can see flames from the city and big dark clouds as well as screams.
At the top of the gate of the city I stop,
I can see a lot of people running and crying and as I look further I see Haruki how he's trying to fight against someone.
I see how he swings his sword but he's not used to fighting in real, so his sword gets frown away I wonder how often it happened in this fight, it must be really frustrating.
But instead of running away, because obviously when his sword is not there he's practically useless, he turns to two children and covers them with his body to shield them from the attack of the other.
In that moment I didn't care anymore about my duty it anything, I just want to help my brother so I start to run into the city and the fight instead of the safe forest.
