Amelie had felt nothing but wonder and amazement as she was ushered to the great hall with the rest of the first years, and now that she stood at the back of the hall waiting to be sorted she couldn't help but let her eyes travel around the scenery. Next to her a boy constantly fidgeted with his tie, loosening and pulling it side to side, the colourless tie bothering him.
"Are you okay?" Amelie asked, the boy glanced at her from the corner of his eye, a slight scowl on his face as he huffed,
"Don't try to make friends with me," he grumbled, his hand which was fidgeting with the tie falling to his side. Amelie gave him a scowl of her own and turned back towards the front of the hall waiting for her name to be called.

"Mattheo Riddle."

The wavy haired boy next to her began walking towards the front of the hall, seemingly unbothered by the attention on him. Amelie didn't miss the way Professor McGonagall and Professor Snape stared at the boy with a hint of worry. He calmly sat himself on the stool and the hat is placed on his head, the hats voice booms across the hall,
"Ah yes, Mattheo Riddle, an incredibly powerful family line you have, cunning and deceptive, yes, I sense bravery and loyalty also, but given your father it shall have to be Slytherin!"
At the mention of his father Mattheo's eyes seem to harden and become void of any emotion. The Slytherins cheer as the small boy exits the stage and makes his way to their table. Amelie watches him intently, waiting for a hint of happiness or sadness, or any emotion at being sorted into his respective house but no emotion comes forward.

"Amelie Black!"

Amelie visibly flinches at her name being shouted and a couple of the older students turn to look at her, whispers echoing around the hall. Dumbledore offers her a slight smile as Professor Snape scowls in her direction. If she was curios a second before now she was feeling nervous and scared, her feet barely moving to begin the long walk down the hall towards the stage. Her palms are sweating by the time she sits herself on the stool and the hat is placed on her head.

"Yes, you have a great fear and anxiety inside of you but you are extremely smart, perhaps you could be a Ravenclaw, but I sense a great determination inside you and a cunning hidden deep within you, all of your ancestors are Slytherins but one, you have the braveness of a Gryffindor, where to put you? What a tricky one you are. It'll be...Slytherin!"

Amelie felt sick to say the least, she had hoped she would steer clear of the Slytherins, she knew she truly could be cunning, that much was true, and definitely prideful of all she knew and accomplished, but she wasn't evil, she wasn't her father. Cheers broke her thoughts as she hopped off the stool, sparing a glance at Professor Snape who was still scowling at her. She quickly made her way towards the table and sat down in the first empty seat, a couple of seats away from Mattheo who was watching her intently.

It was a couple months through the year and the only friends Amelie had were Fred and George, even then, she tried to avoid them since she was a Slytherin and she didn't want to make herself noticeable by spending time with Gryffindors. The twins made it impossible to not be noticed, the loudness and the constant need to misbehave calling the attention of just about everyone around them.
"Happy Birthday to you!" Fred cheered, gathering the attention of everyone in the small courtyard, Amelie groaned and waved her hand in his face, shushing him, the 12 year old chuckled and wrapped his arm around the girl in the green uniform.
