Chapter 27: BEACH DAY - A BIT LATE FOR THE EVENT?

The scene begins with Cole and Ann chasing down a target. A few days passed since he and Kid returned from their imprisonment with the book of Eibon, and after getting a few checkups, they went back into action with fighting monsters.

The target was about to escape until it was suddenly pinned to the wall with Cole's swords. It doesn't move, and Ann kills it with Harvester.

Ann: another one down. How you feeling, buddy?

Cole: great! Feels good to be back. Let's report back. (Writes the number on a window) Lord Death! Duel Meisters reporting in.

Death: (answers) hello! Good to see you two. How'd the mission go?

Cole: good. Target's eliminated, and soul is secured.

Death: way to go! You two always win in the end. By this point, you two have only one soul left to get—the witch's soul.

Ann: alright then. You got anyone for us?

Death: well... I do have a lead on one. Normally, I'd assign a three-star or a teacher for this task. But, something tells me it's more personal for you.

Ann: how so?

Death: we have a location on where Medusa may be hiding.

That got both of them intrigued.

Both: go on.

Death: ever since Blackstar's recent battle with Crona, Azusa and Hanzo have been working overtime to triangulate the most likely location Medusa would be hiding. It wasn't easy, but we've narrowed to Hanamura. I can assign a teacher to help you with this, but if you choose to, you may handle this alone.

*TIMESKIP*

Later at night, the pair were heading to the direction of Medusa's supposed location. They decided to do this themselves. However, if push comes to shove, they'll call backup.

Cole: this feels like a trap.

Ann: you mean by the fact that she's at your old house?

Cole: yeah. Almost like she wants us here.

Ann: well, even if it wasn't your house, the bitch would still set this up.  You have the emergency response ready incase shot hits the fan?

Cole: Yeah. Uncle Hanzo and dad will help us if we need it. Speaking of parents, how has Maka taken the news?

Ann: She's...processing. Maka's looked up to her ever since we were kids. So, to hear the fact that someone you admire was a false, has thrown her image out of proportion.

On that, she wasn't wrong. When Maka was told of what happened, she denied it, thinking it was false. However, when the memory spell began to lift, Spirit confirmed it was true. Maka then wanted to take some time to process everything she just heard and needed to figure some things out.

Cole: I hope it works out for you two.

He stops and feels something with his soul sense. He checks it, and finds a single soul up ahead.

Cole: she's there.

They hurry ahead, and arrive at an old house. It was a small Japanese style home that was worn out and dirty, as no one lived there for years. At the front entrance, sat Medusa as she had a cup of tea and a pot next to her.

Medusa: (smiles) Hello, Dual Meisters. Love the new look for you, Nephilim. You're finally showing the gift I gave you.

Cole: I'm not hiding anymore. (Looks around) I haven't been at this place since you attacked.
