Chapter 20: CAPTAIN'S RETURN - THE FACTORY MADE TO LOOK LIKE A CLOWN?

The scene begins with Hanzo, Sid, and Spirit escorting Stein from his home. Shortly after finding B.J. dead, Hanzo contacted the others to inform them on what happened. They suspected Stein as they found a pack of cigarettes at the scene, and it was a particular brand that only Stein would smoke. Stein was claiming he was innocent as he's been in his lab the whole night, but there wasn't anyone to confirm his alibi.

They arrived to the cemetery, miles and miles outside the town, which caught Stein off guard.

Stein: where are we? Aren't you takin me to Lord Death?

They don't respond, but footsteps are heard as they see Naigus and Marie walking to them. Marie had a sadden expression, as earlier, she was going to have dinner with B.J. but when she got the news, she was heartbroken.

Stein: Marie... (Beat) is it true that B.J.'s been murdered?

Spirit: yeah. His chest was split wide open with some kind of sharp blade, and his heart was ripped through.

Hanzo: by the time I arrived, he was dead. Not even his soul was left.

Spirit: here we are in the graveyard, all gathered together. And we can't even hold a service for him. (Beat) Stein, listen... no one who's standing here right now thinks you did it.

Stein: (to Hanzo) not even you?

Hanzo: while you the prime suspect, I don't see how you would have any reason to do this. But, this brings up more problems. Killing one of our own is a serious crime, and if we bring you back to the academy with the current evidence, you'll be sentenced to death.

Spirit: I'm sorry to say it, but we can't prove your innocence right now. What is clear is that B.J. got himself mixed up with some huge waves of madness. And the only one who can catch the real killer is you, Stein. We all believe in you.

Marie then begins to walk up to him, but Naigus stops her.

Naigus: Marie, are you absolutely sure you want to go with Stein? I understand why you'd want to get revenge for what happened to B.J., but... Going with him isn't going to bring you happiness. He can't give you what you need. Stein has no love in him. He's alone. And always will be.

Marie: (after a moment) that's why I have to go. Stein's always on his own. But if we leave him alone this time, he'll crack up for good. I know he will. Besides, I made a promise to Joe.

She then goes to Stein's side and places a hand behind his left shoulder.

Marie: I promised I'd keep a watchful eye on this man... C'mon, Stein. Let's go.

The two then walk down the path until they were both gone. Spirit then said until they find the real killer, they'll say that Stein escaped and took Marie with him.

*MEANWHILE*

At one of the apartments, Tsubaki and Blackstar were dressed in casual clothes and each had a bag. After what happened earlier today, Blackstar decided to take a break and get away from the school for a bit. As they were leaving, they felt a presence not too far from them. Turning around, they see Cole at a distance.

Tsubaki: (to Blackstar) can you give us a moment?

Blackstar: all right.

She heads over to Cole, and could tell he wasn't alright.

Tsubaki: hi, Cole.

Cole: hey.

Tsubaki: why are you out here?

Cole: I was going to the lake when I noticed you and Blackstar had some bags packed and were leaving. Not even gonna say goodbye?

Tsubaki: (sadden) I'm sorry. Things with Blackstar aren't good, and with everything else going on, we need to get away for a while.
