Katsuki picked her up with a coo, his tired voice worn as he murmured. "I know, baby, I know."
Her loud cries muted to quieter ones as she rest her face against his pecs, the tear stricken red puffy cheek squishing against his muscles. And she sniffled, a tiny hand weakly gripping his loose tank top.
"Mm!" She whined, rubbing her face repeatedly against him, hiccuping a sob.
"Mm, I know. It's okay, I'm here baby. Nothings gonna hurt my baby." Katsuki kissed her head, brushing back blonde curls and wiping beneath sparkling green eyes with a quiet smile. He was exhausted, eyes streaked with old eyeliner and eye bags underneath, but his voice had so much love for the child in his arms. "My little firecracker, that's it, relax..."
The baby girl would all but pout, so cute, just like her father. Her little puffy cheeks blew up as she blew a raspberry in dissatisfaction. She was only two and she was already beginning to get specks of freckles on her face. "Bad guys." Was all she whined out and Katsuki felt his heart squeeze.
"Bad guys in your dreams?"
"Mhms! T-they took daddy and-" Another hiccup as she rubbed her face with her arm, her body hot from crying. She could barely string words, though she understood quite a lot. "Youuu"
"Aw, baby, he's fine. I'm fine, I'm right here. No one will ever take us away from you." Katsuki whispered, lifting her higher into his arms. Their daughter scanned his face rapidly, eyes darting over the tired red eyes that were shaped like her own and the scar on one side, the burn from that battle long ago while he was in UA. She sniffled, touching it comfortingly like she usually did to make sure he was there, sweaty palm rubbing gently. She began to cry again.
Katsuki frowned. Like him, she was often plagued by nightmares. She'd been through a lot, being the daughter of two strong pro heroes, she'd seen Izuku fall once or twice into danger and it had scared her the way it had Katsuki. Katsuki was forever apologetic that they couldn't shield her as strongly as they could now. "What's wrong?"
"Want daddy." She cried and Katsuki wiped her tears with his thumb, rough calloused palm comfortingly holding her face. He didn't find it odd, it wasn't that he wasn't enough to satiate her; she just wanted to make sure Izuku was okay too.
"Of course." He gave a tired smile. "Wanna bring your blanket? Stuffie?" He lifted them to her and she latched on fast, easily, rubbing her face against the soft blue blanket with stitched ends, only big enough to cradle her, her teddy bear tucked beneath her arm as Katsuki let her rest on his hip, returning to his bedroom.
Izuku was awake, waiting for Katsuki who had rested his hand on his back, urging him to sleep before quickly going up to get their daughter. Of course, he couldn't sleep without him, so he had waited, viridescent eyes glowing with affection when he saw the two beautiful blondes of his small family come through the door in the darkness. Laying on his back, an arm behind his head, he raised the other, murmuring in a sleep-riddled voice that turned his tone deeper. "Hey, sweet girl, what happened?"
"Bad guys." She whispered, climbing into his arms after slithering out of Katsuki's when he'd hovered her by Izuku, crawling up his chest until her entire weight was cradled into the hollow of Izuku's neck, curled with her knees to her chest. /Bad guys/ was just how she said nightmare or bad dream, since they always consisted of scary bad guys who resembled monsters with decaying skin. She tightly held the blanket, the bunched tip of the blue fabric in her mouth as tiny teeth nibbled at it to calm down, nuzzling her sniveling button nose against his throat. Izuku's large, scarred hand found its way to her back, rubbing up and down soothingly, tilting his head onto her hair with a small smile.
"As if Kacchan would ever let bad guys get to us, hm? C'mon, princess, let's have a little sleepover, won't that be fun? The big bad Dynamight will protect us right here." This earned a tear-riddled giggle. Izuku brushed her curls from her sweaty forehead, not minding how she practically smothered air out of him by half-laying over his neck. His free hand reached out for Katsuki who had begun to climb back into bed. Sliding up next to Izuku, he hummed quietly, letting that strong arm wrap around his shoulders and pull him in against his side.
"That's right, I would never." Katsuki longer out the whisper dramatically, tickling her tummy with one finger, smiling when she began to laugh more, squirming. "They're just dreams, I know they're scary but when you wake up your dad and I will always be here. I promise." He wiped the last remnants of her tears with Izuku's shirt.
Izuku snorted, looking at his husband. "Really?"
Their daughter teasingly rubbed her face against his shirt more. "Give daddy all the boogers!"
"Ewwww-" Izuku playfully scrunched his nose, tilting his head away. "Not the boogers, nooo! Kacchan, Katsuki, save me-" He was now nose to nose with him and Katsuki couldn't help but smile, bringing his hand up to cup Izuku's cheek, the cold wedding band pressing against his skin as he brushed their lips in the closeness.
"Save yourself, I always hated that shirt." He teased.
"My bed shirt that says bed shirt that's so fashionable? Katsuki Bakugou-Midoriya, how could you?"
Katsuki's hand skimmed down his jawline, laughter in his eyes but a simple amused smile dancing over his lips. Izuku looked over his face slowly, eyes softening as he kissed beneath the scarred eye softly, down the expanse of it from where it trailed beneath the eyelid to his jaw. "Daddy, Papa!" He got to the corner of his lips before their daughter poked her hand between their lips.
"No!" She pressed her face between them and they laughed at her pout from being left out, both kissing her cheeks on either side of her face, causing her lips to pucker at the press on both sides. This got a shrill laugh of glee, squirming her way between the two bodies, so she could be held in both of their arms. The same arms that could hold up entire buildings or cause ricocheting explosions were the ones that could lull her to sleep feeling safe and loved.
As she closed her eyes, remnants of the nightmare fading out, the couple met eyes again with proud smiles through their exhaustion from that day's work. Because they raised that. This was theirs. This perfect, innocent being. This little makeshift family. This was theirs to fiercely protect, this is what they raised.
Izuku mouthed quietly, to not wake her, their daughter bundled up between them, pillowed on Katsuki's chest and holding at Izuku's arm which wound around her and Katsuki's waist to keep them against his body. "I love you."
And Katsuki all but smiled, pressing his forehead to his husbands to murmur. He felt his hand steady on his lower back, strong and protective like the hand cradling the back of his daughter's head. "I know."
