Cold. So damn cold, shivers wracking through his limbs. Izuku's body trembled, desperately wrapping around himself to gain some semblance of warmth. He was always uncomfortably freezing, no matter how high he cranked the heater or how many layers he wore during the winter. It was a joke, that he was reptilian, cold blooded, but he presumed it had something to do with his mild anemia. The subtle lack of oxygen rich blood cells causes frequent cold hands and feet.
Groaning in frustration, he tugged the blankets up higher, bulky muscled limbs fatigued from a long day of hero work. In the dark of his shared bedroom, he felt a shift on the other side of the bed. Katsuki. Looking over his shoulder to him, he contemplated his options.
Katsuki slept sprawled out, he moved around a lot in his sleep and ran warm. He ran so insanely warm he kicked off the sheets, trying to cool down, blood pumping iron hot through his system. Perhaps it was from his quirk, or he was just naturally always warm. Regardless, he was a furnace of much needed calidity.
Izuku had spent too long tirelessly tossing and turning.
"Kacchan?" He whispered.
"Mn." Katsuki grunted, brows furrowed. They had been trying to take a nap, feeling lazy that afternoon, needing a re-energizer. But, gods, it was so cold and Izuku didn't know how Katsuki was so casually star-fished in bed with his stomach exposed from his tank top riding up from all his movement, blankets bunched beneath his knees. Frigid air lapped up Izuku's arms when he moved closer, goosebumps eliciting over bronzed flesh. "What?" He rasped tiredly.
"Can I-" Izuku paused, teeth vaguely shattering. It wasn't even winter, it was mid-spring. He was just having a heavy case of the shivers, worse than his usual chills. "Can I cuddle you?"
This earned silence. Glancing at the body beside him in the grayness of the bedroom, sunlight outside shielded by thick black curtains, he waited before a half-asleep Katsuki responded by kicking his thigh with one foot beneath the blankets before hooking his heel behind one of his knees. "C'mere before I change my mind."
"Thank you."
"Mhms." A non-committed grunt as Izuku sided up against him, Katsuki had remained on his back, letting Izuku curl up. Draping an arm over his waist, Izuku buried his nose into the soft flesh of his boyfriend's throat, inhaling the rich scent of smoke and sugar as heat radiated off of him into his chest.
"It's so f-fucking cold."
This got a laugh. Izuku swearing was irregular and Katsuki loved it a whole lot for no particular reason. Izuku latched onto him more, both legs tangling and slotting around Katsuki's own, arms clinging to him like a koala as hands unfurled over uncovered skin. He could feel the scars on his palm press against the sensitive parts of his hips or the strong muscles of his back.
Katsuki shivered at the feeling of those hands underneath his shirt, then Izuku's feet pressing against his calves. "Gah! Shit, you're freezing! Warn me next time, bastard, damn-"
He laughed, a barked out sound through slight squirming, finally moving to hold at the arms around him, squeezing at tiger-striped forearms and a ragged, rough bicep, rubbing his own calloused, heated palms up and down slowly to give him more warmth.
"Sorry." Izuku mumbled against him, lips brushing against his neck. Light, almost unseen hairs rose on pale skin, though he wasn't cold. Katsuki was so, so warm. So deliciously warm it sent sparks into Izuku's skin. And then he felt actual sparks, a light variation of Katsuki's quirk that felt like sparklers that you'd put on birthday cakes, tiny, itsy bitsy fireworks that did nothing but cause tingles on skin and wash him in heat.
"S'fine." He assured, closing his eyes again, yawning and stretching out further in bed. Izuku all but melted, finally not feeling so cold with the warmth of Katsuki's body cuddled up in the cradle of his arms. Bringing the covers around him, the blonde avoided putting the blankets around anything but his own legs, he whispered. "I don't mind having shitty supports."
He pretended he was only doing this for his own gain, amplifying the effect by pressing his face inwards to rest his head atop the mess of curls and his legs over his strong, stocky freckled thighs, as if he didn't enjoy that he was being used as Izuku's personal teddy bear and space heater.
Chuckling, he whispered. "Thank you."
They continued to sleep like this. Every single night. In the winter when the heater was up to the max and they were beneath layers of blankets and pajamas. In autumn, when rain had begun to patter against the windows and Katsuki would scowl, despising the weather. Even in the summer when Katsuki was sweating bullets despite being stripped down to his boxers, nitroglycerin intoxicating the room with the thick pungent smell of smoky caramelized sugar and spices; Izuku would cuddle up against him in his sleep to share the warmth. And, well, if Katsuki enjoyed it you'd have no proof as to say. Unless you caught how his arms wound around Izuku mid-snore like a child holding close to the safety blanket they find most dear.
