a past memory from atsushi's pov

Atsushi pov:

I was running from the orphanage since the headmaster wanted to kill me with a loaded ▄︻̷̿┻̿═━一 gun, he was following me, I got into a street which I don't know about and noticed a garden not far away then a plan formed in my head , I should hide in the garden, I runned and runned until I heard someone shouting

R???O: oi! The boy with white hair running!

Atsushi: me?

I pointed to myself

R???o: yes you, why are you running?

Atsushi:.........

I stayed quiet , I didn't know what to answer

R???o: say what's your name?

Atsushi: n-nakajima atsushi desu

I replied telling my name

R???o: say atsu why are you scared?

Atsushi:........ Someone was following me......

I lied, I don't want to tell him everything since I just met him

R???o: don't be scared , since I am here with you the future Almighty detective

Atsushi: *giggle*

He's funny, I guess it's not that bad

R???o: hah don't you believe me?

Atsushi: no it's not like that.......?

Oh dumb me I didn't ask his name did I?

R???o: edogawa ranpo, you better remember that

Ranpo: yeah of course!

Atsushi: you know your my very first friend

True, everyone kept on avoiding me at the orphanage, I think they were scared of me or the staff there kept on telling them that they should not be anywhere near me

Ranpo: huh? Why your the kindest boy I ever met, why wouldn't anyone be your friend?

Atsushi: I don't know, everyone was calling me a freak at the orphanage

I myself don't know why

Ranpo: you live in an orphanage?

Atsushi: hm! Yeah is something wrong about it?

I was curious and I tilted my head uncontrollably

Ranpo: no nothing's wrong, don't worry!

The sun is setting down, I should go before the head of the orphanage notice, if he does I'm going to get punished again

Atsushi: well see you tomorrow

Ranpo: yeah I hope to see you again

My relationship with ranpo growed over the weeks, we became besties, he was like a brother figure to me, but not everyone can get a happy ending

One day whilst I was sneaking from the orphanage to meet ranpo , someone from the staff saw me and so he started calling for the headmaster, I runned and runned to the garden, it was ranpo's birthday so I wanted to surprise him with something, I didn't know what he wanted so I buyed a necklace, from the deepest part of my heart I knew that this was the last day that I will ever be able to see ranpo, I was on the verge of crying but held back the tears

Ranpo: huh? Atsushi why you running?

Atsushi: first of all happy birthday ranpo, second this might be the last time we'll be able to see each other, so forgive me if I had done anything wrong

The headmaster is not far away, I have to do this quickly

Ranpo: what are you talking about atsu? Is something wrong?

Atsushi: i'm sorry ranpo, please promise me that you will keep this necklace until the day we meet again

Then I felt a hand gripped on my shoulder I didn't want ranpo to get worried so I pretended nothing's wrong

Atsushi: goodbye ranpo! May this not be the last time we'll see each other

I said the last part with a low voice, maybe he didn't hear it, then I burst out crying, I just couldn't held back anymore
