Savage says "Oh really i'll just kill you before you can do that" however at that moment they both vanish and neither of them were seen after that and overtime they were both forgotten and so were their legacy's it was as though neither of them even exsisted. With them both gone Soul Stealer was able to continue feasting on souls for a long time without anyone that could pose any sort of threat. However overtime they started to become a threat to him so the countless fragments of him were forced to merge and become one. This version of Soul Stealer was unthreatened for a long time as none could compete with him however just like before they all naturally eventually became powerful enough to threaten him and so he had to go into hiding while in hiding he says "Looks like they have all become too powerful for me I require someone that will make them easy prey and I know the right person"
