Theodore

________April 6th, 1806

Theodore had never liked the ballroom, or the dancing or anything to do with courting season.
In fact he despised it with his whole being. Everything about it just made him feel disgusted.

Every season he was told the same thing, find the perfect girl who will soon rule beside you, a girl with power, a girl with pride, loyalty and above all wit.

It felt like a chore. He only attended the balls because of his mother. His mother was his anchor in a world of Treacherous waves.

She believed it was good for him to stay social, to mingle with others, whilst his father believed he had a duty, a duty to find a wife and rule the land when the time was to come.

Theodore's eyes traveled up and down the gray cloth that draped over his body.
"You look amazing, my sweet boy" Delphine Vincent said dusting the boys shoulders lightly.

"Now I don't want you to think of this as a chore you need to complete but more so as a way to lighten up" she smiled pinching his cheek.

"Who ever you pick to be your wife will be welcomed with open arms, no matter who" she said placing her hands on his face before leaving and letting her husband enter.

"I don't know what your mother said, but whatever horrid things she has placed into your mind, bid them farewell" Lorenzo grumbled, stomping his way towards his son.

"Yes, father" He whispered.
"What was that boy?" Lorenzo grew agitated.
"Yes, father" Theodore rose his voice.
"That's better".

"Now I've let you off easy the last few years but I'm no longer going to, you are eighteen there is no need to baby an adult." Lorenzo began.

"You will find a wife and she will
Meet my expectations. you will do as I say, nothing more nothing less" Lorenzo finished staring down at his son.

"And what expectations do you mean, father?" Theodore said, rolling his eyes.

A loud smack was heard, Theodore's body falling to the ground causing the room to fall silent.

"You will not ask questions you already know the answer too, do I make myself clear?" Lorenzo's face grew hot at the tears Theodore's eyes had let out.

"Yes, father"

"Good. now wipe your eyes and meet your mother and I downstairs, the guests will
Be here soon." he finished.

Theodore still felt the pain above his cheekbone, choosing to ignore it he greeted his fathers guests.

"You look as dashing as ever Theodore" lady blanc said pinching his cheek.
Theodore flashed a smile, turning back to the door.

His breathe caught in his throat when he saw her. black hair just barely above her elbows, and the most striking green eyes he had ever seen.

He had never seen such beauty before.
"Well hello there, I'm cinna!" A small blonde girl smiled pushing her hand up to the boy.

"Hello cinna, im theodore" he smiled softly, connecting his hand to hers.

Once the little girl had bounced off with who he assumed was her brother—he was praying to the gods above it was—he noticed the same green eyes sneaking towards the garden entrance from a slightly open door.

He took his opportunity and followed the girl trailing far behind to not seem creepy.

He watched for a moment as she stared at the sky longingly, how could one look so perfect just staring at the stars? He thought.

Dusting off his chest he stood tall making his way to the willow tree.

"Hello? Miss are you alright?"

Smooth. He thought once more.
