Chapter XIV: Reunited?

The three have finally arrived to Rhea Town and were prepared to explore the 2nd rune. Elliot was wanting to find the guy with the hood, but thought it wouldn't be easy. She did believe she would see him again. She felt connected to him somehow. But she did not know how... She couldn't keep the thought away from the mission.

Lucas was in front of a warehouse, observing its ruined condition. He noticed that all the windows were boarded with wood covered with blood. And most of the wood was carved, saying turn back. There seemed to be some kind of gross stuff all over the entrance door and the warehouse itself. 

"What is this stuff?" Cindy asked with a shiver.

Lucas put his hand in it and grabbed something hard. He took it out. It was a broken skull with no bottom jaw and sharp terrifying teeth.

"Flesh..." Lucas answered uncomfortably.

Elliot looked at the lock to the entrance. She noticed something. The lock wasn't old and rusty.

"Guys! This lock?" Elliot asked.

"What about it?" Cindy asked.

"I think this lock was just now attached..." Lucas pointed out. "That means someone is probably inside."

"So they set the lock outside the building, when they're inside the building? How do you think that's the case?" Cindy asked.

Then something broke loudly. They walked to the side of the building and the wall broken. There was an axe on the ground. Lucas looked through the wall, and saw the rune.

"There it is! Let's go-" Cindy was stopped by Lucas.

"I don't think the rune is the only thing inside." Lucas said as he noticed a man with a sniper strapped on his back approaching the rune. He slowly grabbed the rune before they could.

"Hey!" Lucas yelled out before he threw a knife. The man dodged the knife and pulled out the sniper from his back. He pointed it at them. It was lined at Elliot. 

"I mean no harm... I'll just take it and be on my way..." The man said.

"What do you plan to do with it?" Lucas asked.

The man gave them a sigh. "None of your business..."

"Actually it IS my business!!!" Lucas charged toward the man and grabbed the sniper. The man shot, but missed. Lucas was than struggling too much he through it toward Elliot. Elliot picked up the gun and pointed it at the man. Lucas was able to avoid the man's grasp. 

The man stared at Elliot. He then stopped moving for a moment. He stared harder at Elliot.

"Elliot?" The man said.

Elliot didn't want to show her magic to anyone, so she used her hands to gesticulate.

"How do you know my name?" She expected him to not understand her. And he didn't.

"What?" The man asked confused.

"She's asking how you know her name." Lucas said.

"I... I'm... Your father..."

Elliot was frozen. She let out a tear.

"I thought you were dead..." He said.

Elliot just stood, staring at him. She dropped the gun,and walked out of the warehouse angrily. The man sat on his knees, silent. He knew why she was upset. Lucas was confused why she was mad. So he decided to follow her.

"Watch him Cindy." Lucas said.

Cindy shook her head in response.

Lucas exited the warehouse and searched for Elliot. He looked around and saw her leaning on a tree. She leaned there with one tear. It was not enough to show she cared. Lucas came up to her with concern.

"Are you okay?" Lucas asked.

"I'm just... going through a lot..." Elliot's text said.

Lucas put his hand on her shoulder. "How about we chat about it." Lucas insisted.

Elliot shook her head. Lucas noticed she was letting out a bunch of tears. He wiped them. And she sat down, laying her head against Lucas's shoulder, crying. He used his jacket to wipe some of her tears off her face.

"First, let's talk about you, and your father reuniting. Why are you upset?"

Elliot sighed. "I thought he didn't try..."

"Try what?"

"To escape court. He just went with it. He accepted himself to go to prison. He didn't try to keep me from being alone. He never had a reason." 

"Oh... Lets... ditch that problem... Why are you afraid to go places? Is it due to the school murder?" 

"Yes..." Elliot answered.

"Okay... One last question... Why are you acting weird around no one else but me?"

"I-I... I can't... I-I" Elliot instantly blushed and began freaking out. Her text was shuffling like crazy.

"Okay, okay! You don't have to tell me. It's okay." Lucas said quickly.

She sighed in relief.

"Let's go back, and deal with... this." He said standing and offering his hand. She grabbed his hand and they both returned back to the warehouse. 

They returned inside, and saw Cindy with a phone.

"Guys. This man is helping us hunt the runes. He's after what we're doing." Cindy said.

"Good! Let's go back Ares Village and search for the next rune tomorrow morning." Lucas responded.

"I don't think we should." Cindy turned on the news on her phone. It showed a burning museum in Quaronos City. The phone screen then glitched like crazy, and blew a hole. An eye was the only remains on the screen.

"A fire... made by the demon..."
