The night air enveloped Alannah as she walked along the deserted streets, her white cane tapping rhythmically in front of her. Her acute senses absorbed every sound, every whisper carried on the wind. It was during this journey that she heard the distant echoes of a struggle, mingled with desperate cries for help.
Alannah's heart clenched with concern as she followed the sounds, her curiosity and instinct compelling her to investigate. With cautious steps, she made her way toward the source of the commotion, her ears attuned to the escalating intensity of the altercation.
As she approached the darkened alley, Alannah strained to make sense of the chaos unfolding before her. She discerned the sounds of fists connecting with flesh, grunts of pain, and heated voices engaged in a violent confrontation. The urgency of the situation became palpable, and Alannah's heart pounded in her chest.
Amidst the cacophony, Nathaniel's voice rose above the fray, uttering a string of curses that barely reached Alannah's ears. She couldn't see the expressions on their faces, the intensity of the struggle, but she could perceive the tension that hung heavy in the air.
Suddenly, Alannah became aware of a presence approaching her, the distinct sound of footsteps growing nearer. Before she could react, strong hands closed around her arms, holding her captive. Panic surged through her, and she instinctively struggled against her captors, her heart pounding in her chest.
"Nate, what do we do with her?" one of the gang members asked, his voice filled with uncertainty.
Nathaniel, caught between his loyalty to his gang and his attraction towards Alannah, hesitated for a moment. He recognized her voice, remembered the encounter at the hotel, and felt a pang of regret that she had stumbled upon this violent scene.
With a harsh tone, Nathaniel turned towards Alannah, his voice laced with anger and frustration. "What do you think you're doing here?" he spat out. "Do you want me to kill you?
"Do you want me to reply, yes? What sane person would reply to this question?"She mumbled.
Nathaniel barked on her face "what are you saying?"
Alannah's eyes welled up with tears and her blindfold getting wet as she understands how she has caught some type of crime. She pleaded, "Please, just let me go. I didn't mean to interrupt. I won't tell anyone."
The gang members surrounding them looked at Nathaniel expectantly. "What should we do, Nate? She's a liability," one of them whispered.
The man who was the victim looked at the blindfolded woman, and started pleading, "oh please save me. They are going to kill me."
One of the gang member hit the man on his face making him loose consciousness.
Nathaniel's internal struggle intensified as he weighed the consequences of his next move. The conflicting emotions tore at his heart, torn between his loyalty to the gang and the innocent woman standing before him.
One of the gang members, a burly man with a scar across his cheek, stepped forward and sneered, "What did you see, blind girl? Speak up!"
Alannah took a deep breath, her voice steady despite the fear that gripped her. "I can't see anything," she replied, her words carrying a note of frustration. "I'm blind."
Laughter erupted from the gang members, their mocking tones echoing through the dark alleyway. "Blind? You expect us to believe that?" another member scoffed, folding his arms across his chest.
"It's the truth. I lost my sight a long time ago." Alannah's brows furrowed, and she raised her chin defiantly, "are you blind, too? Can't you see the blindfold? Stupid."
