Nathaniel's heart pounded in his chest as he sped towards Alannah's apartment, his mind filled with worry and fear. He couldn't bear the thought of anything happening to her. But as he approached the scene, his worst fears materialized before his eyes.

Screeching the brakes, Nathaniel jumped out of the car, his eyes fixed on Alannah sitting on the road, her battered form causing a surge of pain within him. Adrian paced anxiously nearby, his expression reflecting the gravity of the situation.

Without a moment's hesitation, Nathaniel rushed to Alannah's side, his heartache evident in his eyes. He knelt down, his hands trembling as he gently examined the blood on her forehead and the bruise on her cheek. The sight of her injuries intensified his anger and resolve to protect her.

"Alannah," he whispered, his voice filled with a mix of concern and anguish. "I'm here. I've got you now."

Alannah weakly tried to rise, her eyes filled with a flicker of relief upon seeing Nathaniel. But before she could gather her strength, Nathaniel's arms enveloped her, pulling her close to his chest, providing a comforting embrace. The weight of her trembling form was cradled against him as he held her with utmost care.

"It's okay, Alannah," Nathaniel murmured, his voice filled with reassurance. "You're safe now. I'm here, and I won't let anything happen to you."

Adrian, observing the scene, felt a mix of relief and concern. He knew that Nathaniel's presence would provide Alannah with the security she desperately needed. Adrian's gaze met Nathaniel's, silently acknowledging the shared responsibility they held in protecting her.

Nathaniel held Alannah tightly as she sobbed, her tears mingling with her whispered words of fear and vulnerability. He listened attentively, his voice gentle and soothing as he tried to comfort her, assuring her that he was there to protect her.

"You're safe now," Nathaniel murmured softly, his voice filled with genuine care and concern. "I won't let anything harm you. I'm here for you, my love."

He held her patiently, understanding that she needed to release her emotions, to let the fear and pain escape through her tears. Nathaniel wanted to be her rock, her source of solace in the midst of her distress.

As time passed, Alannah's sobs gradually subsided, replaced by exhausted whimpers. Her trembling body grew still in Nathaniel's arms, her tears drying up. The weight of the ordeal had taken its toll, and exhaustion overcame her.

Nathaniel, sensing her weariness, made a decision. Gently, he lifted Alannah from the ground, cradling her carefully in his arms. He looked towards Adrian and nodded, silently requesting his assistance.

Adrian, understanding the unspoken communication, swiftly opened the door of Nathaniel's car. Nathaniel carefully settled Alannah in the passenger seat, ensuring her comfort and safety. He closed the door quietly, not wanting to disturb her peaceful slumber.

Nathaniel took a moment to observe Alannah, her features softened in sleep. He felt a mix of protectiveness and tenderness, vowing to do whatever it took to keep her out of harm's way. With a final glance at Alannah, he turned to Adrian.

Nathaniel's frustration grew as he questioned Adrian about the situation. He couldn't understand why Adrian would be near Alannah's apartment, and his voice rose with each word.

"What were you doing near Alannah's apartment, Adrian?" Nathaniel demanded, his voice laced with anger. "Why were you there?"

Adrian's eyes widened in surprise, taken aback by Nathaniel's reaction. He quickly composed himself and pointed towards a building on the corner of the street.
