Alannah sat on her bed, her thoughts consumed by the overwhelming gratitude she felt towards Nathaniel. Tears welled up in her eyes as she reflected on the incredible gift he had offered her—the chance to see the world with her own eyes. The weight of his love and selflessness filled her heart, leaving her feeling both blessed and humbled.

Sniffing softly, Alannah reached for her phone and activated Siri. With a gentle voice, she requested Siri to call her father. As the familiar sound of her dad's voice resonated through the speaker, a warmth spread through her.

"Hey, Dad," Alannah greeted, her voice tinged with emotion. "How are you?"

Her father's voice, filled with love and concern, responded, "Alannah, my dear, it's so good to hear from you. We're doing well, but your mom is particularly eager to talk to you. Just a moment."

Alannah's heart swelled with anticipation as she waited for her mother's voice to fill the air. Her mother's cheerful tone enveloped her, and a smile curved on Alannah's lips. She could feel their love even through the phone call.

"Mama, I miss you," Alannah confessed, her voice laced with longing. "When are you and Dad coming to visit me?"

There was a momentary pause on the other end of the line, and Alannah sensed a hint of hesitation. It struck her as odd, and a twinge of skepticism crept into her thoughts.

Her mother's voice finally responded, "Oh, Alannah, you know we'd love to come and spend time with you. But, you see, we're quite busy here. Maybe you could come and visit us instead?"

Alannah's brow furrowed in confusion. Something felt off. However, she decided to trust her instincts and keep her plans a surprise for now. She didn't want to spoil the joy she felt in that moment.

With a gentle sigh, Alannah replied, "I understand, Mama. But I really wish you both could be here. I miss you so much, and it would mean the world to me if we could spend some time together."

There was a brief silence, and then her parents relented, their voices filled with a mix of amusement and excitement. "Alright, my dear," her father said. "We'll see what we can do. We'll try to make some arrangements and come to you soon."

As she pondered whether to share the news of her upcoming surgery with her parents, a mischievous smile tugged at the corners of Alannah's lips. She couldn't resist the idea of surprising them with her restored vision. It would be a moment they would cherish forever.

With a sense of determination, Alannah made her decision. She would keep the surgery a secret and reveal her newfound sight when they arrived. It would be the ultimate surprise, a gift beyond anything they could imagine.

A rush of happiness surged through Alannah's being. Although she had her doubts about their initial hesitation, she chose to focus on the possibility of their visit. Perhaps, in the end, it would be a pleasant surprise for them all.

With renewed hope and a sense of anticipation, Alannah bid her parents farewell, promising to keep in touch. She hung up the call, her heart lighter than before. The thought of seeing her parents, sharing her newfound joy, and unveiling the surprise of her impending surgery filled her with a renewed sense of purpose and excitement.

Alannah picked up her phone and dialed Amy's number, her heart filled with excitement and anticipation. As the call connected, she greeted her best friend with enthusiasm.

"Hey, Amy! I have something incredible to tell you. Can you come over? It's really important," Alannah said, her voice brimming with excitement.

Amy, sensing the urgency in Alannah's voice, immediately agreed and assured her that she would be right over. Within minutes, there was a knock on the door, and Amy entered with a mix of curiosity and concern on her face.
