As they stood together, a charming middle-aged man approached Nathaniel, his eyes scanning the room before settling on Alannah. His gaze lingered on her, a playful smile playing on his lips.

"Now, who might be the prettiest lady in the room?" the man inquired, extending his hand towards Alannah in a gesture of greeting.

Alannah hesitantly raised her hand to shake his, unsure of how to respond to the man's question. However, before their hands could touch, Nathaniel swiftly stepped in, snatching Alannah's hand and pulling her close to his chest. His protective hold around her waist sent a clear message to the man.

"She's my girl," Nathaniel stated firmly, his voice brimming with confidence and possessiveness.

Alannah's eyes widened in surprise, her cheeks flushing with a mix of emotions. She glanced up at Nathaniel, searching his eyes for an explanation. The intensity in his gaze, the way he held her so protectively, left her feeling a jumble of confusion and happiness.

The man, sensing the unspoken connection between Nathaniel and Alannah, respectfully withdrew his extended hand and nodded with a knowing smile. "I see, Nathaniel. You have found the one."

Alannah found herself caught between the bewilderment of the situation and the warmth spreading in her heart. She hadn't expected such a public declaration, but deep down, it made her feel cherished and proud to be with Nathaniel. It was a silent affirmation of their relationship, a display of his pride in being by her side.

She allowed herself to lean into Nathaniel's protective embrace, feeling his steady heartbeat beneath her cheek. In that moment, the confusion and uncertainty melted away, replaced by a sense of security and contentment.

Nathaniel's words echoed in her mind, reminding her that he was there for her, ready to shield her from any harm that may come their way. It was a display of love and commitment, and she couldn't help but feel a surge of gratitude for the man who held her so firmly.

As the middle-aged man gracefully excused himself and departed, Nathaniel turned his attention back to Alannah. His eyes held a determined glint, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation.

"You need to stay close to me, Alannah, no matter what," he asserted, his voice filled with conviction. "We can't afford to take any risks now."

Alannah, still processing the recent encounter, hesitated for a moment before suggesting, "Should I go back? It might be safer."

Nathaniel shook his head firmly. "No, we need to stay here and find out what's going on. Running away won't solve anything. We have to face this together."

With a sense of urgency, he pulled out his phone and swiftly made a call, instructing someone to join them at their current location. Alannah watched, intrigued yet puzzled, as Nathaniel hung up and turned his attention back to her.

Before she could inquire further, a figure emerged from the crowd, making their way towards them with an annoyed expression etched on their face. Alannah stifled a giggle as she recognized the familiar annoyance plastered on Adrian's features.

Adrian glanced between Nathaniel and Alannah, a perplexed expression crossing his face. "Nathaniel? Who is this? Are you cheating on Alannah with a chick? I am sorry, no offense, beautiful lady but this man has a very beautiful girlfriend. Don't even come closer to him."

"Adrian, meet Alannah," Nathaniel introduced, his voice laced with a hint of amusement. "She's the lady I've been talking to in the corner."

Adrian's eyes widened in realization as he studied Alannah more closely. "Oh, I see now! Gosh how makeup can change women," he exclaimed, his annoyance quickly replaced by curiosity.
