AN: been spreading myself thin with life my friends. I think we will have an ending in about two more chapters.
Friday.
Sarah and Mitch had gotten here two days after my phone call with Sarah. Maddy's chemo had been extended another week and to my surprise she didn't fight anybody on it. I sat on the kitchen counter, watching Sarah and Rosie move around the kitchen. Rosie had a wooden spoon in hand licking off the cookie dough as she sang, "Poor little bug on the wall, no one to love him at all. No one to tickle his toes. No one to blow his nose." She giggled, licking off more cookie dough.
"They wrote a song about you on Bluey?" Sarah exclaimed and Rosie brought her finger to her chin.
"I dunno. Maybe. Harry, you write song for me?" She looked at me and I chuckled.
"Well, if I wrote it, it would sound more like, 'Sweet little Rosie bug, all of the love for this bug, I'll always tickle her toes, I'll help her to blow her nose'." I sang to the same tune causing her to burst into giggle.
"Auntie Sarah, that one is about me." She said pointing to me and Sarah laughed.
"I think I like Harry's version better anyways." Sarah shrugged before looking up and over my shoulder, "Mads, how was your nap?" She smiled before quickly shifting her eyes to me, signaling me too look over.
I turned on the counter and saw why. Her complexion was pale, her eyes so sunken, it was like she hardly even rested. I moved quickly off the counter, walking over to her. I grabbed her hand, placing my other on her elbow to support her, "You okay?"
"Yeah, I'm just tired of sleeping. Imagine that." She smiled a bit, her voice so quiet.
"Momma, Harry wrote a song about me." Rosie said, walking over and grabbing Maddy's other hand. We learned that Rosie was in a better mood, if we let her believe she was assisting in taking care of Maddy.
"Oh did he now," Maddy said, giving her the best smile she could. We sat her down on a chair at the table, and Rosie held her hands up so Maddy knew to pick her up. I helped Rosie onto Maddy's lap and Rosie nodded.
"Mhm, like Bingo's bug song, but my toes get tickled." She giggled, making Maddy laugh.
"Well I'm glad, toe tickles are important." She kissed Rosie's head before peeking over at me, and I winked at her.
"Do you want food, Mads? I made lemon chicken with veggies. I heard your mom say it was a favorite." Sarah smiled at Maddy, who pressed her lips together.
"I'm not hungry, but I probably should. Just the tintest amount please." Maddy smiled, Sarah nodding.
"Momma can we watch a movie, pleeeease?" Rosie pouted at Maddy, who simply sighed and nodded.
"I'll try, okay? I can't promise I won't need to rest my eyes."
"I just want you there momma." Rosie whispered, and Maddy rested her cheek on top of her head.
"Okay baby."

Maddy had eaten just about four bites of her food, but I didn't force her to eat anymore. We were on the couch watching Tangled with Rosie, Sarah cleaning up the kitchen. Maddy was awake, but when you looked at her, it was like there was nothing there anymore. Her eyes were glassed over, her breathing so slow. I reached behind us, running my hand softly through her hair and as I did, thick strands came out into my hand. I felt my eyes widen at the sight, I didn't know how to react or what to do.
I glanced back at Sarah, hoping she would look up at me until she finally did. She furrowed her eyebrows, confused at the horror on my face. I moved my hand carefully, holding it up so she could see, her hand shooting up to cover her mouth.
