I know you're somewhere out there
Somewhere far away

Giyuu glanced up at the serene sky, staring at the bright moon. He was unsure the reason for which his heart ached. Maybe his fellow hashiras' deaths had woken him up, but it was too late now.

There's no use in thinking about it now. He sighed.

But there was, because he kept thinking she was still out there somewhere, in the somber world too far away to reach. No, he knew she was. And he knew she was waiting for him. When her delicate smile shattered into a rageful fire, she had fulfilled her destiny.

But when they meet again, she'll be there, smiling genuinely.

I want you back, I want you back

He wanted to take her back. He wanted to pull her out of her vengeful waters as she sinked in deeper everyday.

My neighbors think I'm crazy
But they don't understand

Sanemi was still in a state of shock. Who would ever be sane again after watching their little brother die? He would sob loudly, shouting he was crazy, Giyuu was crazy, shouting everyone was crazy. All he wanted was his innocent little brother back.

Giyuu understood Sanemi profoundly. They shared the same emotions, grief and suffering. Where did the happiness go?

You're all I had, you're all I had

Giyuu thought of her for a moment. She was all he had. She really was, after devastatingly losing his family and best friends. Now she's gone too.

At night, when the stars light up my room
I sit by myself

Giyuu's vision was getting blurry. The stars were his comfort, but it was useless. He was all alone and couldn't contain his tears. Warm drops slowly trickled down his pale cheeks. There was a lump in his throat, making it difficult as he tried to calm himself down and control his breathing.

He let himself shed tears. He saw her, a beautiful butterfly fluttering towards him.

Talking to the moon
Trying to get to you

"Kocho," He choked out a sob. The moonlight glistened on the butterfly. She was really there, waiting for him.

"Why did you leave?" As the words left his mouth, his heart ached more. He realized, if he was stronger, she wouldn't have died. He could've protected her.

No, he couldn't have stopped her from dying. She planned to die all along. But there she was, in front of him, as a butterfly. Elegantly flapping her wings.

He hoped she understood. He hoped his words reached her.

'Isn't the moon lovely, Tomioka-san?'
