Destiny N. Brown
A wicked gleam flashed in Milani's eyes as she proclaimed, "Let's go find that hoe and take her down. She won't even know what hit her when we're done. You said her name was Mirah, right? I got my ways and I could have her located in ten point five seconds flat." Her feet moved swiftly across the carpet.
I knew she was just playing about the killing part, but I did have a lot of thoughts in my head that were full of anger and hurt. Being cheated on and broken up with on the same day brings a lot of those thoughts into your head. You think of all the things you should have done differently.
You think of all the times they made you fall for them over and over again. Milani could see the hurt in my eyes and pulled me into a tight embrace.
"We'll get through this together, Destiny. Don't let that hoe bring you down. You're better than that."
I nodded, grateful for Milani's support. But deep down, I knew I couldn't let this go so easily. I needed closure. I needed to confront her and demand answers.
"Let's do it," I said, my voice firm. "I want to know why did she just sit there."
Milani nodded, determination etched on her face. "Okay, let's start by finding out where she is."
She pulled out her phone and began typing furiously, her fingers moving at lightning speed as she searched for any leads. Within minutes, she had located her on social media and had an address. We got into Milani's car and drove to the address. My heart was pounding in my chest, my palms were sweaty, and I was filled with a mix of anger and anxiety.
I had no idea what to expect when we got there. When we arrived, we parked a few blocks away and walked towards the house. It was a modest two-story home with a well-manicured lawn and a white picket fence. It looked normal—too normal. As we approached the front door, my heart was beating out of my chest.
Milani rang the doorbell, and we waited anxiously for someone to answer. After a few moments, the door opened to reveal a tall, curvy woman with long, wavy hair. It was Mirah. She looked surprised to see us standing there and tried to hide behind the door.
"What are you two doing here?" She asked, her voice trembling with fear.
"We came to talk," Milani mumbled, her voice steady and firm.
Mirah hesitated for a moment before stepping aside to let us in. As we entered her home, I couldn't help but notice the expensive decor and the luxurious furniture. It was clear that she was doing well for herself. We sat down in her living room, facing each other across the coffee table. Mirah sat on the couch, looking nervous and fidgety.
"I know what you did," I started, my voice shaking with anger. "Why did you do it? You sat there like a stupid bitch, saying nothing." I scoffed.
"I don't know-" She started but I cut her off.
"That's a lie. You knew exactly what you were doing. And even if you didn't know she had a girlfriend, you still made the choice to cheat with her after the fact. You're not innocent in this."
Mirah hung her head, "I know. I messed up. I'm sorry."
"But sorry isn't enough," I chuckled, my voice cold. "You destroyed our relationship. And for what?"
Mirah didn't have an answer, and we sat in silence for a few moments. Finally, Milani spoke up. "I think it's time we leave. Destiny, you said what you needed to say, and Mirah knows what she did was wrong. Let's go."
We got up to leave, and as we walked towards the door, Mirah stopped us.
"Wait," She called out, her voice shaking. "There's something else you should know." We turned around to face her, unsure of what she was going to say.
"She didn't just cheat on you, Destiny," Mirah muttered, her voice barely above a whisper. "I was with her for two years. I was in love with her, and I couldn't help myself. But I never wanted to hurt you. I just didn't know how to end things with her."
My heart sank at her words. Two years? How could she keep something like that a secret for so long? I felt like the ground had opened up beneath me and I was falling into a never-ending black hole. I looked at her incredulously.
"You were with her for two years? She never told me that she was in a relationship."
Mirah shook her head. "She didn't want you to know. She was afraid of losing you."
I wanted to scream. How could she do this to me? How could she lie to me for so long and pretend like everything was okay? The anger and hurt that I had been feeling earlier came rushing back in full force.
"You're both disgusting," I spat out, my voice filled with venom. "I hope you both rot in hell for what you did to me, I'll make sure to spit on both of you hoes graves." I turned around and stormed out of the house, with Milani following closely behind me.
As we got into the car and drove away, I couldn't help but feel like my life had been turned upside down. I didn't know how to move forward from this, but one thing was for sure—I was never going to forgive either of them for what they had done to me.
"Everything will be okay." Milani turned to me, trying to comfort me. But I knew deep down that things would never be the same again. I had been betrayed by the person I loved the most, and I couldn't just brush it off like it was nothing. No matter what I did, I would never be able to forget the pain that they had caused me.
As we drove back home, I couldn't help but feel lost and alone.
"I know it doesn't feel that way right now, but I promise you, it will get better. You're stronger than you think, Destiny. And you have me by your side." I nodded, grateful for Milani's unwavering support.
As we pulled up to my house, I knew that I had a long road ahead of me. But I was determined to get through it, one step at a time. I stepped out of the car and turned to face Milani.
"Thank you," I smiled, my voice barely above a whisper. "For everything." She pulled me into a tight embrace, holding me close.
"Anytime, best friend. I'm here for you no matter what." I hugged her back, feeling a sense of comfort in her warm embrace. And as I walked towards my front door, I knew that the days ahead would be tough, but I was ready to face them head-on.
I was ready to take back control of my life and move forward, leaving the pain and betrayal behind. Inside my house, I collapsed onto the couch, tears streaming down my face. I couldn't believe that the person I had loved with all my heart had been lying to me for so long.
But deep down, I knew that I couldn't let this define me. I had to rise above it and come out stronger. I wiped away my tears and pulled out my laptop. As a distraction, I started writing, pouring my emotions onto the page. The words flowed out of me effortlessly, and soon I found myself lost in my writing, forgetting the pain for a moment.
Hours passed, and it was well into the night. As I closed my laptop and got ready for bed, I knew that this was just the beginning of a long journey. But with Milani by my side and my writing to lean on, I was ready to tackle whatever came my way. I climbed into bed, feeling exhausted but strangely at peace.
I looked up at the ceiling of my bedroom, watching as images flashed by in my head. Billie and I had many wonderful adventures together, I thought to myself. We sat here, in that exact same spot when she was requesting a lock of my hair for her locket.
Even though our relationship had ended badly, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the time we shared. She was such a fun and adventurous person, and I was so lucky to have been able to spend time with her.
I shook my head, trying to clear the memories from my mind. It was pointless to dwell on the past. I had to move on and focus on the future.
