AFTER SIX-THOUSAND YEARS OF FRIENDSHIP, nothing could prepare Aziraphale and Crowley for something like this -- certainly not a random child being left in their care.
They could have sent the abandoned infant away, contacted the police and allowed her to go to a good home, but eternal life can be quite lonely, and within a few months, the angel and demon had become attached to this strange, little human.
Maren Crowley-Fell is raised without either side knowing she exists. After all, they're too focused on the upcoming apocalypse and eventual war between Heaven and Hell. Of course, the proof of co-existence could cause chaos and lead to problems worse than any cosmic battle.
But if Maren is proof of anything -- her existence demonstrates that destiny is not a straight line. Some ineffable fates need a little push.
