Chapter 18: The Race vs Time

Anthony could only see the torch of the Statue get smaller and smaller.

He couldn't see Beetle and Agent P anymore.

But suddenly, a flash flew by.

Anthony realized he wasn't falling anymore, for now, he was on Rainbow's back?

"How the hell.."

"Shut up! I only have twenty seconds to get that bomb off you!"

"Maybe something on the Statue could..."

"Where else do you think I was going?!"

"Sorry!" Anthony said rolling his eyes.

Agent P was thrown out of Beetle's hands.

"Do you know why I let you live?"

"Nope!"

"So I could kill you myself!"

Agent P's eyes widened as Beetle grabbed his gun out of his pocket and aimed it straight at the platypus.

"Right as I shoot you, this beautiful city will be gone, and so will your Force!"

Agent P leaped off the ground and watched Pinkie and Dodger fly towards him.

"I won't be killed today, Beetle! You will!"

The sweat raced down Rainbow's face as she dropped Anthony off inside the Statue.

"Ian told me there should be something sharp in there, but just in case you need help!"

Rainbow threw Anthony her ear piece, "You have ten seconds go!"

Anthony raced through the Statue, "Ian! Where do I need to go?"

"Beetle left something, but I'm afraid it's suspicious. It could be a trap!"

"Look, I just wanna save the city!"

"Fine! Just go up a flight and Beetle left a knife."

Anthony ran up the steps finding the knife sitting on the ground.

The timer continued to buzz down, 9, 8, 7, 6...

Right as it hit 5, Anthony got the bomb off, and easily deactivated it.

Beetle mustn't never expected Anthony to get it off.

Right after this, Anthony lay down on the floor, tired and ready to return home, but the battle wasn't won yet.

Pinkie and Dodger leaped out of the hovercraft to join Agent P.

But right before they could strike, Beetle flew over them, falling off the Statue.

"Come on! He could reveal us still!"

The three raced onto the hovercraft and tried contacting Rainbow.

But instead, got Anthony.

"Hello?"

"Agent Padilla! Where's Agent Dash?"

Still exhausted, Anthony slowly sat up, "Don't know."

"Did you deactivate the bomb?"

"Yep!"

"Perry!" Pinkie interrupted pointing at Rainbow Dash racing past them, "She's doing a Sonic Rainboom!"

Rainbow Dash dashed by and easily caught up with Beetle, passing him, then lifting him back towards the Statue before anyone could glimpse an eye of him.

Dodger, Pinkie, and Agent P brought the hovercraft back up towards the Statue, beginning to think that Rainbow might have killed him.

Once they arrived back to the Statue, Rainbow Dash was up there, fighting Beetle.

"Agent Padilla, bring whatever you used to get the bomb off, to me! I think I could kill Beetle!"

The minions were shocked, for 5 minutes had definitely went by, and NYC had still not exploded.

"Call the boss, figure out why everyone in New York hasn't died yet!"

Twilight began to grow tired, yes, it had been a good 6 minutes, but she never had to hold a shield for this long before.

Also, Ian hadn't returned yet, which means, he could be dead already.

Ian, though, wasn't dead, for he was nervous, ever since he told Anthony where the knife was, he hadn't heard back from him.

Maybe this time, Anthony really was dead, unlike last time.

But, New York wasn't gone!

Which means, there could be hope.
