Where It All Began

The car motor faded into the back of her mind, her head, stuck in one place, on one thing. Who is the one texting her, how could they have taken all these pictures without her knowing? After all, she had trained for things like this, sensing presences, so how did this happen?

Wednesday was too lost in thought that she hadn't felt the turn of the car that was obviously headed the wrong direction. Luckily though, Thing did.

He popped out of her backpack only to jump on her shoulder, look out of the window, look at the driver, then back at Wednesday while signaling quickly.

"Where are your parents?" He asks almost frantically but clearly trying to keep his composure.

His movements alerted Wednesday, her eyes squinted curiously, slowly looking up at the driver. He was eyeing her in the rear view mirror, but quickly pulled away once he saw her glaring at him.

"Lurch." Wednesday calls out deathly, curious as to what he'll do in response.

As he glances over at her once more, Wednesday gasps quietly, Not even a mouse could've heard it. It was clear to her now thought, this isn't Lurch, or was it?

Whoever this imposter was clearly didn't have the time or patience to make sure their disguise was perfect. Both of his eyes were clear, he didn't have the figgy eye as the real Lurch had.

He had gone blind after a chemical burn caused by Pugsly that the rest of the family laughed off as a joke.

Wednesday quickly fixed her composure and decided to ask one question that would truly decide weather or not this was Lurch or not.

"Stop the car." Wednesday demands as the car slowly comes to a halt.

"Where are my parents Lurch." Wednesday asks in a stern voice as Lurch turns to look at her, Just as he opens his mouth Wednesday places her hand quickly on the door handle to be ready just in case he responds improperly.

"They have..business they had to attend too, they sent me to pick you up." He says in a freakishly low, gruffly voice.

Wednesday quickly pulls her backpack over her shoulder while shoving the door open. Her eyes wide and full of confusion.

As she paces away she hears the sound of a door open and close behind her but not the sound of any footsteps following her.

You may be wondering, why did she run out? What's wrong with Lurches answer?

The thing is, Lurch doesn't answer. Lurch doesn't even talk.

She pulls out her phone she received as a gift while Thing rushes out of the bag and on top of her shoulder, Wednesday glances back over at the imposter who was standing near the car, watching her walk off.

She looks back at her phone and decides to text the only person who came to mind, the only person who still might be at nevermore, Enid.

Wednesday: Enid, are you still at Nevermore?     10:36 pm

Enid: yep my parents are about ta leave     10:38  pm
