For the first time in a few months, Wednesday finally felt whole again. Like apart of her was missing the whole time and only now got re placed. She had been so preoccupied with Enid and school that she barley thought about what had happened to her that night in the hospital.Only on the quiet nights, the nights where she would stay up late and stare and her ceiling after declaring to herself that she wasn't going to fall asleep. On those type of nights, she thought of it, and what she could've done to have prevented it.
But aside from that her life was becoming enough for her to handle again. Though It wasn't like she was super happy or anything, she wasn't exactly miserable, either.
Any event she still had a lot on her plate, she still had to find those men and avenge herself. She needed to return to that place where she found herself, face to face with her stalker, and end any connection they had with her.
Alone this time, she wasn't bringing Enid.
She knew Enid would be opposed to that idea so instead of telling her, she would have to go one night where she was sure, Enid was sleeping and could crawl out of the window with Thing as her partner.
Enid had become one of the most important people to her at Nevermore. She couldn't let what happened to Enid that night, happen again.
After the bell rang, meaning her classes had ended, she walked through the hallways as once again, almost everyone was staring at her just like they did in her old school. This time, instead of looking at her with detest, they look at her with admiration. She hated how quick the tables turned, she didn't know why, no matter where she went, she was acknowledged. If she could, if she had a choice, she would have wanted to just get through school and not have gained any friends as they are a liability. She knew how she would act or feel if she did gain a friend, she would think of them as her responsibility, or something she had to take care of. Therefore, a hindrance.
Enid sped up behind her, whispering "your really getting all the attention now, huh?" In a disgust tone, since she knew Wednesday hated it as well.Wednesday sighed, pulling Enid into a turn to a separate hallway that was under construction, In an attempt of exiting the crowed and taking a shortcut to her dorm, but with Enid, aside her.
"W- Wednesday we're not supposed to go this way, where going to get in trouble." Enid says, worriedly. "This hallway was burned to ruins, enhancing that the cameras were destroyed as well." Wednesday says, sluggishly as they exit a door and make there way to the quad.
There was a silence that filled the air while they made their way to the separated building which lead to the dorms. Enid had her head down in thought as they walked before bringing it up and piercing through the silence, breaking it.
"When are you going back to that house in the woods?"
Wednesday stopped in her tracks while looking at Enid with wide eyes and a half opened mouth. She sighed before looking down and continuing the walk as Enid joined her, waiting for her response.
"You cannot join me this time, Enid." She says as Enid stops and turns to her quickly. "Wednesday, I'm not letting you go alone!" She says defensively. "Your not Coming." Wednesday says sharply while turning around, stopping her and pointing and her chest. There was silence before Wednesday started walking again.
As she began, she was almost immediately interrupted as Enid grabbed her shoulders and held her in place.
"Wednesday, we almost died last time." She says as Wednesday tilts her chin down in annoyance. "We almost died, because you got taken." She says hoping to end the conversation. "No I got taken because I left your side. It won't happened again."she snaps back, stepping slightly closer to Wednesday. "We got lucky last time." Wednesday says in an irritated voice while stepping closer to Enid, copying her motion as a pause formed between them.
By the few steps they took, their faces were inches apart.
"I don't believe in luck." Enid says in a calm, almost smug tone as a small pause formed. Her eyes went back and forth to Wednesdays right and left eye in between the pause before eventually, she started walking away, slightly surprising Wednesday as she watched her from behind before eventually joining her.
Enid stopped at the top of the stairs once reached and turned to look down at Wednesday who also stopped and looked at her curiously as Enid inhaled "Look just.. It's my decision, not yours. I want to go." She says as Wednesday brings her head down to the floor with a sigh before nodding.
"I have something I need to do first before I can go back to that house, I made a promise to myself that I'd do that thing first before anything." Wednesday says after bringing her head back up slowly to look back up at Enid as she smiles at her approval. "Do you need any help? You can always ask Wednesday." Enid asks, oblivious as to whatever it is Wednesday had promised.
Wednesday bit the inside of her cheek as her eyes trailed down Enid's face and down to her lips quickly, before replying. "No need, It's personal." She says before starting to walk off, leaving Enid to watch her from behind only to be stopped one more time.
"Wait Wednesday." Enid calls out as Wednesday turns, slightly annoyed. There was a silence before Enid finally spoke up. "Are you free tomorrow?" She asks as the muscles that were tensed in Wednesdays face, released, as her eyebrows raise, slightly. "I am." She says curiously as Enid's gentle smile raises a bit. "Great! Do you want to do something together?" She asks as Wednesday inhales deeply through her nose as her eyes drag down Enid's face once more.
"Sure." She says dryly, a hint of excitement in her tone as she turns back and opens the door to their dorm, leaving Enid with a even bigger smile on her face.
