At last there was finally something to be heard coming from inside the house. Larray, Nikita and I had been spending the morning in the garden in the sun.

Thomas emerged from the house holding a cup of coffee in one and his phone in the other hand. As soon as he looked up and saw us on the lawn he smiled and put his phone in his pocket.

"Morning you guys. Vic, how was your first night?" he turned to me.

"It will take some getting used to haha, but otherwise very good, thank you." I looked up at him, slightly squinting because of the sun.

"That's great. Mia is just finishing herself up, so she'll be down in a sec. We have a photoshoot at Bryant's booth today. Do any of you care to join?" he added.

Larray and Nikita exchanged looks and jokingly rolled their eyes at him.

"Yeah, you know what? I'd love to come!" I said, propping myself up.

He looked a little surprised, but seemed quite overjoyed someone agreed.

"Dresscode?"

"Just be yourself - be done at 1." he said, taking a sip from his coffee and making his way inside the house.

•12:55PM•

I looked at myself in the mirror. Was the jean skirt too short? The top too revealing? Did the converse match?

I decided to ignore the hesitations after the 20 minute long jewellery crisis I had just had and just grabbed my bag along with my phone.

Downstairs Thomas and Mia were waiting while Jack was tying his shoes.

Mia exclaimed "Vic you look fantastic! You look like a fairy who listens to rock music!"

"Thank you! Are we ready to go?" I asked looking in Tom's direction.

"Nearly."

"Vinnie come on! We're gonna be late!" Jack suddenly yelled up the stairs.

Oh.

"For fuck's sake, give me a break." Vinnie Hacker said thudding down the stairs, struggling to put on a chain.

"You hair's a mess." Jack said, following him with his gaze.

"Your face's a mess." Vinnie said without even glancing at him.

Mia rolled her eyes as she headed to the door, I followed close behind.

•1:20PM•

We arrived at the adress and made our way towards the entrance.

Vinnie didn't say a single word during the car ride. He didn't listen to anything anyone had to say either, he was just on his phone.

His aura was so dark and unwelcoming.
I felt unwell around him. I felt it in my stomach.

On the contrary, Jack was an absolute sweetheart. I sat next to him in the car and he always managed to say something that could make the car shake with laughter.

He was the complete opposite.

Once we arrived at the booth and greeted Bryant we were free to take as many photos as we liked. Mia went first and invited Thomas to join her for some couple photos aswell.

Once it was my turn I felt a little nervous and also a little awkward sitting inside, not knowing how to pose. But this was by far not my first photoshoot and I got into my element quickly. I even decided to take a few photos with Jack.

We stepped out of the booth laughing, but the smile was quickly wiped from my face as soon as I saw Vinnie standing in front of me, staring at me unfazed. He pushed past me and entered the booth.

What was his problem? Did I throw him off in any way? Was it because I walked in on him in the bathroom? Not that I could care.

To my surprise, he stepped into the booth and on the screen I suddenly saw a completely different person. The change was almost mechanic. His movements were quick, yet every frame managed to somehow look good and that smile really was something.

I thought this was my element, but I was clearly an amateur.

He stepped out of the booth, looking as bored as when he stepped in. Mechanic.

•6:26PM•

Alex and Kouvrr decided to organize an evening pool party to celebrate Kouvrr's birthday. They were frantically carrying around decorations while I tried to help Jack prepare the drinks as much as I could. Thomas had bought the alcohol as he was 22 and legally allowed to purchase it unlike most of us.

Jack certainly wasn't holding back on that opportunity. He was pouring more into his mouth than into the bowls.

"That's enough, big guy." I said as I took the bottle out of his hand and proceeded to pour it into the mixture.

"Oh relax, sooner or later everyone here will be busted, might aswell get a head start." he joked.

I laughed but a minute of silence followed.

"Does Vinnie get along with anyone here?" I asked, but regretted the question as soon as I spoke.

Jack thought for a second until he answered, "Yeah, he does. It's not like anyone actively dislikes him, he's just very passive. He doesn't get involved much and he's not particularly close to anyone. I'll be honest, I don't like him very much. He annoys me because he always acts as if he's too good to even be here."

He scoffs.

I decide not to ask any further questions.

"You should go get ready, the party is starting soon. I'll finish the drinks." he smiles at me.

I smile back before handing him the bottle and heading to my room.

I dressed into a periwinkle colored swimsuit, seashells dangling off the strings.

I threw a neon pink and orange tank on top, typically patterned with hawaiian flowers. Very y2k.

After tying a sarong around my waist, I clipped a hairclip to it for later.

Finally, I went to the bathroom to touch up my makeup and fix my hair.

All of a sudden, the door behind me, visible in the mirror, swung open and Vinnie entered the bathroom wearing a dark blue and yellow hawaiian shirt, still unbuttoned, along with swim trunks.

Having been startled, I smudged eyeliner all over my cheek.

"God damn it. I was almost finished." I muttered.

After a moment of silence he said, "Aren't you gonna go in the water? What's the makeup for?"

I was taken aback a bit.
"I will, but I won't go under" I answered, rumaging around for makeup remover.
"Where did I leave it?" I opened the cupboards."

"Here." I heard him say.

Thinking he'd found it, I stood up facing him. Suddenly he grabbed me by the jaw, licked his thumb and smudged the eyeliner off my cheek.

Without saying another word he walked out and closed the door.

I stood startled.
Lightly swiped across my cheek.

Huh.
