"Alright, crew, listen up," Talia ordered as she walked into the kitchen the next morning, bringing one hand down to rest on the table as she made eye contact with each one of them. "Last night, I found a lead. Now, I can't control when Malimo will call me," she gave Anakin a stern look at that. "But he had the decency to give me at least a little information," she stepped back, surveying the room with the dignity of a real leader. "We have two weeks to save Senator Amidala's life and take down the Council once and for all. Any questions?"
Theo raised his hand.
"When can we have breakfast?"
Talia pinched the bridge of her nose, shaking her head.
"Force give me patience."
"Don't you mean 'Force give me strength'?" Anakin butted in.
"If the Force gave me strength, you'd all be dead." Talia pointed out, a razor sharp edge to her voice.
She waved a hand at the kitchen table, indicating that they could eat. Anakin and Theo set upon the food like a pair of wild beasts. Talia stared straight ahead, searching the kitchen desperately for any sense of normalcy, to no avail.
She turned to Obi-Wan, hoping for solace.
"Kill me now."
If they were going to be executed for their crimes, it wouldn't matter anyway.
"My dear, I can't let that happen," he replied, to her disappointment. "I like you far too much." She shrugged, leaning back in her chair.
"I am irresistible." He couldn't help it, really, she thought.
"Stop flirting at the breakfast table, you two." Zoe complained, making Theo almost choke on his breakfast. Talia looked at Obi-Wan, a mischievous smile at her lips.
"Are you thinking what I'm thinking?"
"Lunch."
Talia nodded, her smile broadening.
"Dinner."
"Food." Theo barely managed to get a coherent word out. Talia's smile faded instantly.
"Forget killing me, can you kill him?"
"Unfortunately, not yet."
"You sure you're happy to have me accompany you, blondie?" Zoe interrupted them, looking at Anakin despondently. Talia had decided to send Anakin off to the droid depot after his bad behaviour last night, along with Zoe to keep an eye on him. Not exactly a punishment, but she'd thought it'd do him some good.
Anakin grunted his reply. Zoe took that as a 'yes', but then again, she didn't speak caveman.
"And I'll finish off the earpieces." Theo swallowed his mouthful in time to speak.
"Whereas I'll go and train with the one person who's actually behaving well so far." Talia inclined her head towards Obi-Wan, who was looking very pleased with himself indeed.
"I've been well behaved!" Zoe gasped dramatically.
"Chucking me across the room is not well behaved." Anakin pointed out.
"I pushed, big difference."
"See, this is why Kenobi's my favourite."
"Do you know how to build a droid, Skywalker?" Zoe drawled, as the two of them walked into the droid depot together.
"I grew up surrounded by technology, so yes."
"Good, 'cause I have no clue." Zoe admitted.
"You don't have the info, fact queen?" Anakin raised a brow in surprise.
