June, 2015
A couple weeks prior to the first of the Summer Sabbats, Life’d more or less gone back to normal. Jenny, Ian, and their children’d moved into a house not quite three-quarters of a mile away, but still on Summer’s property that’d been built over the course of the Spring. It’d been built in a small Grove that bordered the nearer End of the open Field where her cattle and Horses grazed during the warmer months. Everybody who’d been living in what’d originally been the only habitable house on the property was more than glad, ’cuz it offered a lil more breathing room, if nothing else.Once what’d become their room’d been cleared out and Returned to being a guest room, the Elvin woman’d hastily gone about setting up a nursery. Her due date was so close that she knew it’d take a couple spells on her part to get it completely finished before her youngest daughter arrived. Luckily, she was more than experienced enough to Conjure up necessary items like the nursery furniture.
Jamie’d been amazed when she’d Conjured up the exact crib that’d caught her eye when she’d been searching on what she called the Internet. After all, he’d been under the impression that he’d have to build a cradle that’d be big enough to last till their daughter was three or four Y-ears old. Seeing a piece of furniture with rails on all four sides like the porch that was specifically designed for an infant was almost mind-blowing.It certainly drove home the point that Life’d Changed more than he coulda ever imagined it could in three Centuries’ Time before the Spring previous.
Knowing there was a good chance the baby’d be born right at her due date, if not as long as a couple weeks afterward, the couple’d eventually decided on a Water-themed name. They’d agreed to Locklyn Terki Fraser, Summer not wanting to give her too many names–and certainly not too many that were a mouthful and a-half for others. Disregarding her surname, that choice covered both halves of her Ancestry well enough, which’d been a big concern to both her parents the entire pregnancy.Considering their eventual choice in name, the Time of Year their daughter wasta be born, and her Ancestry, the Elvin woman’d taken full Control of decorating the nursery. Lavender was generally harvested around late-June or early-July–more or less exactly when her due date was–so she’d decided to incorporate that Color into her design somehow. That’d been done beautifully with the crib bedding she’d picked out, which featured a fairly elegant print in gray on a white base. Lavender served more or less as an accent Color in said bedding, not to mention all the other accessories–such as curtains and a laundry hamper–that she found to round out the entire set with.
“I’ve to say, mo chridhe–it’s absolutely gorgeous,” the ginger man chuckled once she let him in to get his first look at the finished room.“And doesn’t make me feel like I’m immersed in a bottle of Pepto-Bismol,” Summer laughed.
“What?” He cocked a brow at her in confusion.“It’s a type of Modern medicine–does the same thing as Ginger ale when one’s nauseous,” the Elvin woman answered, grinning.
Jamie still didn’t quite get her joke since he’d never seen what she was talking about.
“It’s a bright pink that looks kinda nauseating, in and of itself,” she explained, that grin never leaving her face.“I think I’d rather be dumped into a vat of Hog blood,” the ginger man groaned.
“So would I–hence, why I didn’t pick pink as the nursery’s main Color,” Summer agreed. “I wanted something on the girlie side, but not anything that was gonna remind me of that shit–the Pepto, I mean.”
