Day 1 part two

"Yeah, sounds good" George said pulling the stethoscope away from the patient "Hell before? You'll be fine." "If you don't count that my bacon days are over, sure." The patient said lying back smiling "You'll have surgery tomorrow with Dr. Burke, I hear he's good, and after that, you can have all of the bacon-flavored soy product you can eat." I nodded "Dr Burke is good but we can't promise anything now get some rest and we'll be with you in a little while." I said placing the patient's chart in the casing on the bed frame "Doesn't it feel so good to finally be doing doctor things?" I nodded "Yay, I'm super happy don't you notice" I said rolling my eyes "You roll your eyes alot" I rolled my eyes again "You just did it again" I smiled "Does it annoy you George" he nodded "Alot" I pouted "Cry about it" I said smiling at the nurse handing over some results of an earlier patient. "Roberts your with Bryce's case" I shook my head "No" Burke stared at me "Fine" I said walking towards her room.

I looked over to Meredith's direction but she never seemed to notice me which was actually quite relieving. "You're lost." Katie said to Grey "I'm not lost. How are you feeling?" "How do you think I'm feeling? I'm missing my pageant" I rolled my eyes "Think of it this way" I said uncliping her from the wall "You can go back soon" Meridith didn't even notice me telling her we were on the wrong floor "Spokane Teen Miss? I was in the top ten after the first two rounds. This is my year. I could've won. Hello? You're so lost. What are you, like, new" I nodded.

"I twisted my ankle. I do rhythmic gymnastics, which is like really cool. Nobody else does it. And I tripped over my ribbon, and I didn't get stuck with someone this clueless. And that was like, a nurse" I went to say something but realized it was lunch and decided against it.

I walked into the cafeteria and got my lunch sitting on my own watching George and the others sitting on their own table. I shrugged and ate by myself. "Good afternoon interns. It's posted, but I thought I'd share the good news personally. As you know, the honor of performing the first surgery is reserved for the intern that shows the most promise. As I'm running the OR today, I get to make that choice." He looks over to me and then George. He slaps O'Malley on the back "George O'Malley. You'll scrub in for an appendectomy this afternoon. Congratulations" I smiled over to him and he smiled back. "Me?" He asked and looked around

I left soon after Burke and went and done some rounds "Katie, honey, mom and dad are here" A woman said going into Katie's room "They gave her a sedative for the CT scan, so she's a little groggy." Meredith said to the parents "Will she be alright?" "She'll be fine, the sedative will wear off in a few hours," I said whilst updating  her chart. "She's, um, well, you know what, I'm not, I'm not the doctor, uh, I'm a doctor, but I'm not Katie's doctor, so I'll go get him for you." Meredith scurried out of the room "Mr and Mrs Bryce we can't say for sure that your daughter will be fine but everything we've done isn't showing anything concerning or bad at the moment, she's in safe hands with the attending on your daughter's case me and Dr Grey are interns and this is our first day, we can't answer all your questions that is why Mer- Dr.Grey has gone off to find Katie's doctor." I said reassuring the parents "Thank you, Doctor?" "Roberts, Stella Roberts," I said shaking Mr. Bryce's hand "Thank you for the reassurance" I nodded and left to the skills lab

"007. They're calling me 007, aren't they" George said walking up and down "No one's calling you 007" Meredith and Izzie said, "I was on the elevator and Murphy whispered 007." I looked up from the new books from the library in the hospital about new and cool surgeries "Oh, how many times do we have to go through this, George, five, ten? Give me a number or else I'm going to hit you." I closed my book and listened into the conversation"Murphy whispered 007 and everyone laughed." "He wasn't talking about you," Izzie said in an attempt to comfort him "You sure?" George asked realising some stress "Would we lie to you" Meredith said "Yes" George said panicking again "007 is a state of mind" Cristina said, I nodded quietly agreeing with her "So says the girl who finished top of her class at Stanford." I rolled my eyes, beep mine, and Meredith's pagers went off 911 Katie Bryce. I put my book down and followed Meredith running toward Katie
