Y/n POV

I've been trying to avoid Regulus for two days. It hasn't worked yet. It's all because of that stupid partner thing. Not that I wish to be paired with someone else. Speaking of being paired, Hagrid managed to convince all the teachers that it was a great idea. Now the Gryffindors are walking around with Ravenclaws.

Of course that also meant that we're now partners in every class and in any clubs we have together. Which for me and Regulus, that means taking Defense Against the Dark Arts together. Not that I'm totally against that idea. After all, he does know some pretty awesome hexes.

A tap on the shoulder snaps me out of my thoughts. My head shoots up. Regulus had tapped me. I shoot him a questioning look and he glances around the room.

I look around. Oh god, everyone is looking at me. Including Professor Slughorn is looking at me.

"Now Ms. Byrnes, I'm hoping you could tell me the ingredients of Draught of Living Death," He requests.

"Um. Valerian sprigs, sloth brain and wormwood?" I sort of answer.

"Incorrect. You forgot 3 ingredients," He states.

I blush and look away. It's too bad that I look right at Regulus, who's smirking. I glare at him and he sticks his tongue out at me. Which leads to me making yet another face at him.

"Regulus and Y/n. If you two could please practice your transfiguration outside of potions class." I blush again.

Regulus Pov

The people around us are laughing. They're doing it quietly, but they're still laughing. I turn around and shoot glares at them. It shuts them up, well almost all of them. Barty and Evan are still laughing, but we all know there's no use in trying to shut them up.

I turn back to the lesson. Ugh why does potions have to be so boring?

"Your homework is a 2 page essay on the consequences of brewing a potion of your choice incorrectly. Remember, you are to do it with your partner but I expect an essay from the both of you," Slughorn assigns.

My lips curl upwards slightly. Great, more time to spend with Y/n.

Slughorn dismisses the class and we all make our way into the crowded halls. Potions is my last class of the day.

I maneuver my way through the crowded halls. At one point I pass the marauders, almost bumping into Remus. I see Sirius shoot a glance at me before pretending I was never even there. That's what he always does.

I should've been brave enough to go with him, but I remember what happened the first time he didn't come home for Christmas break. My mother had sent Bellatrix to hunt him down and she did. He hadn't been punished until later that night. He didn't scream, but then again he never did.

I suppose I didn't want to suffer that same fate. Now that he was gone, I was the last black heir.

"Yo dude. Your classes are over, why are you going that way?" Avery asks.

"I'm well aware that my classes are over. But I have homework to do and there's no way I'll be able to finish it in the common room," I explain.

He nods before walking off. I wasn't lying, I wouldn't be able to finish it in the common room. Avery's classes are over too and with that hyper idiot around, nothing would get done. He's the fun one in the group I suppose.

Which would make Barty the grumpy one and Evan's definitely the sidekick to Avery. They're always pulling pranks. Every once in a while they manage to rope the rest of us into a bad idea.
