The first couple of weeks were spent filling out even more applications and searching for places to live. It became more cumbersome to ride public transport everywhere when all of the places were out of the city and then try to get a rideshare. So, I bought a car.

The whole process gave me anxiety, but once it was over with, I drove home that day and found that I really liked not having to drive everywhere. Laughing as that realization came to light, I turned down a roughly paved driveway about 6 hours away from where I currently lived.

I wanted to stay over the weekend and see what the smaller towns across the state had to offer. This really cute reality company called Chipped Doorway had a few listings for older homes with larger plots.

'Glad you could make it, Mr. Markus,' greeted an older short beta with graying hair and genuine smile.

'Me, too, Mr. Wulf,' I greeted back, shaking his hand.

'I didn't think anyone would be interested in this old place. Thing's been in our inventory for quite some time,' he admitted with a small grimace.

'I heard your associate call this place unlucky?' I asked raising an eyebrow.

'Yeah, that is right. We have sold this place 7 times. All of which have come back to us for reselling.'

I laughed. 'Don't laugh, young man. This place has had hopeful hearts and minds try to take it on and come to realize didn't really have it in them to repair it to its former glory.'

'Show it to me, would you?' I asked, remembering the pictures online.

Mr. Wulf was quiet the majority of the time as he led me throughout the home, only adding something he thought I wanted to when I lingered here or there. He explained the home was originally built in the 1930s and was turned from a farm house to a mini hospital. After that, it became a hotel and later a bed and breakfast. The last owners let it go because they ran out of money to turn it back into the original farmhouse.

I could see the changes that were made and the vision they had. I could see how beautiful it would be once it was finished. Was this something that I could undertake at this stage? Maybe not, but the land attached was beautiful. I could see Moonie playing out there, hiding in the gardens, chasing around the future dog. A soft smile formed on my lips as tears stung my eyes.

'I've see that look before,' commented Mr. Wulf. I looked at him sniffling. 'You are in love.'

I chuckled, wiping my nose, as I chucked a peppermint in my mouth. 'Yes, this place had wonderful potential, but we have other appointments right? I can't just settle on the first big body I see.'

'Woah, ho, ho,' he laughed. 'Would you be comfortable riding the rest of the way together and I can bring you back here or do you want to follow me?'

'If you don't mind, I'd like to follow separately. If I decide to live here, I will need to learn my way around.'

'Sounds like a plan. Let's go to the next listing.'

Mr. Wulf was very funny and informative throughout the process. He wasn't too pushy and did try to give me the ugly with each property. Three of them I really liked, but I told him nothing, just let him know that I would be thinking about it.

I really liked the old farmhouse. It sat back from the main road a bit and had a lot of space, but it wasn't live in ready yet. If I chose this place, I would have to make other arrangements for it to be completed on time. It was certainly the lowest listing, but the price wasn't that important. I didn't feel the same as I did in the other places.

My weekend stay turned into a week stay which was then extended out to two weeks. Mr. Wulf was very patient with me and showed me several properties around the surrounding town. But nothing pulled me like the farmhouse. I wanted it.
