I looked down and shook my head. Were we really doing this? I figured I better head home and pack a bag before I talked myself out of it.
An hour passed and I was waiting at the bus station for y/n. Knowing her, she was never planning on showing and just wanted to push me to get out from under my parents.
"Joonie!" I heard from behind.
I looked up from my phone and was relieved to see y/n running towards me.
"Part of me thought you would chicken out," she said.
"Part of me really wanted to."
We boarded the bus and headed to Seoul. I took out my journal and wrote of few things down, trying to stick to what y/n said I wrote about best.
A few hours passed, and it was dark out. When the bus pulled into the station my stomach sank.
"Here we are," y/n said with a little hesitation. "Guess I should have thought about what we should do once we actually got here huh?"
I couldn't help but roll my eyes and laugh at her.
We stepped off the bus and looked around, it was obvious we weren't quite sure what to do next.
"Call him again," y/n said. "Tell him to meet us."
"Meet us where?"
Y/n looked around, "that restaurant!" She said pointing across the street. When I gave him a call he still didn't answer. Part of me wondered if he was ignoring my calls on purpose.
"We should still get some food and make a plan," y/n said. "Unless you want to sleep on a bench tonight."
After a quick meal y/n and I decided to head to a hotel near the label that was holding the audition. She figured I was bound to run into my brother if we were at least in the area.
"So what song are you going to audition with?"
"Haven't thought about it, in fact I haven't really wrapped my brain around us being here at all."
Y/n laughed. "You think too much."
"And you don't think enough."
"You love that about me."
She wasn't wrong, we balanced each other out that way. Still, the fact I let y/n talk me into this was something I never thought she would be able to do.
Just then my phone started to ring. It was my parents.
"Don't answer it!" Y/n said stopping my hand from reaching for my phone.
"They're probably worried!" I said.
"They're probably pissed! Just get through the audition, and then once you make it into the company, you can tell them everything. Otherwise they're just going to get into your head."She was right, again. All of this was getting to be too overwhelming.
"Just turn your phone off. They're going to keep calling."
"What about my brother?"
"What's his Instagram? Maybe we can figure out where he is."
"He doesn't post often."
She pulled up his account and looked through his posts. "Wow. He's...grown up."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean...nevermind." She said with a suspicious look.
"Oh come on!" I said. "That's my brother! Don't be disgusting y/n."
"I didn't say anything!"
"You didn't have to," I said back. "Just don't get any ideas."
"The only idea I have is going to this place right here."
She showed me a picture of my brother at what looked to be a dive bar, he was wearing a uniform like he worked there.
"I looked it up," y/n said. "It's still open."
We headed to the bar and walked right in, but there was no sign of him anywhere.
"This was a dumb idea," I said to y/n.
She shot me a glare. "Excuse me!" She said to another employee. "Do you know him?" When she showed his picture the employee nodded.
"He's not here tonight."
"Do you know where he would be?" Y/n asked. "Upstairs most likely."
"Upstairs?" I asked.
"He lives in the apartment upstairs."
"Thank you!" Y/n said grabbing my arm and pulling me out the door. We headed upstairs, and could hear music was blasting from the other side. I knew we were at the right place.
"He's here," I told her. I took a deep breath and knocked on the shabby door.
The music was turned down and a few seconds later someone was opening the door-it was him.
"Namjoon?" He said confused. "What are you doing here?"
I wasn't sure what to say, so I took y/n's advice and didn't think about it for once. "Missed you, brother."
He welcomed us inside and looking around, it was less to be desired. There was hardly any furniture, with take out boxes all over the place. I couldn't help but feel guilty he was living this way.
"I'd offer you a drink but, pretty sure you're still a kid." He teased. "Hi there by the way," he said to y/n reaching out his hand. "I'm yoongi."
"I know?" Y/n said to him. "I've known you since I was like ten."
"Y/n?!" He said shocked to see her. "I didn't recognize you. You're...you grew up."
Y/n looked at me and held in a laugh. I rolled my eyes.
"But what exactly are you two doing here?" He asked us. I wasn't sure what to tell him, I didn't think he would take me seriously if I told him I was going to pursue music like him now.
"He's auditioning." Y/n said matter of factly.
Yoongi eyes got wide. "Really?"
I was waiting for him to be upset.
"It's about time," he said with a smile.
Y/n nudged my arm and smiled at me. I felt better about being here after hearing Yoongi's support.
Yoongi let y/n and I crash with him until we could afford a better living situation. He said most of the labels pay for room and board for trainees, so if we got signed we would be set.
"What about you y/n?" Yoongi asked. "Are you auditioning too?"
She shook her head no. "Just here to make sure this dork doesn't run back home."
Yoongi laughed. "How are mom and dad? Have they stopped mentioning my name to our relatives?"
"It's probably best we don't talk about them."
Yoongi laughed under his breath and shook his head, he wasn't surprised to hear our parents were still upset.
"So what are the sleeping arrangements?" Y/n asked. "I mean no offense but do you even have a bed?"
"Y/n don't be rude!" I told her.
"I have a bed," Yoongi interrupted. "If you want it it's yours. Joon and I will crash wherever. I don't sleep much anyway."
"Why don't you sleep?" Y/n asked him.
"Practice, writing..."
"He was the same way back home, always working on music." I told her.
"Then you better do the same," she told me. "Goodnight fellas."
Y/n walked into yoongi's room and shut the door.
"So are you two dating yet?" He asked me.
"Us? No. She...she's my best friend."
"So? You've always liked her."
My feelings for y/n have always been buried because I knew she didn't feel the same way. It was obvious she just thought of me as a friend, or maybe even a brother too. I told myself if I buried my feelings I wouldn't get hurt later on if she ended up with someone else. So far it was working.
"Cant really think about dating if I'm going to do this," I told him. "Didn't come all this way to change it for a girl."
"You're going to be changing a lot if this is really what you want to do," he said. "I'm glad you're finally here though."
The next few days we worked on our music for our audition. Before I knew it the day had come and I felt sick. The nerves were too much to handle, was I really ready for this?
