"My L'Manberg"
Wilbur Soot POV
"Chihiro!?" I blurted out loud. "How the f*ck is she alive!?".
"That's what we said too. Anyways, let's not fall behind." Naegi said before leaving. I followed him all the way to the locker room where Chihiro was seen. I wasn't nervous or scared. I was more confused. "Don't killing games kill people?" I thought. "Maybe it's like how- no lets not think that". I let out a sigh. By the time I looked up, we were right in front of the room. We walked in and just at that moment Aoi opened the locker.
"A laptop?" Naegi said confused.
"I remember seeing this" Kyoko said. I remembered it to. When I went in to the library with Naegi and Byakuya, I saw the laptop there as well. "It's broken. I tried pressing the power button earlier, but nothing happened." She said.
"Its broken huh? Too bad." Naegi sighed.
"Didn't we come here to see if Chihiro was here" I thought to myself.
"But how did the laptop get here from the library?" Naegi asked.
"And I guess it's in sleep mode, but the power is definitely on." Kyoko said.
"Huh? But I thought it was broken?" He said scratching his head.
"I would bet that Chihiro fixed it. After all, he was known as the Ultimate Programmer." Sakura responded. I shook my head.
"Listen, isn't this really strange? What's this laptop doing in here?" Naegi thought out loud.
"Maybe someone hid it here" Kyoko said. I looked around the room and noticed something strange.
"There's no cameras in here" I said, mainly to myself be the others heard it too.
"I noticed that as well." Kyoko said. "Since there is no cameras, this is the one spot where the mastermind is blind.".
" So you're saying someone put the laptop here so the mastermind wouldn't know about it?" Hifumi asked.
"Well, I know about it. Do they know that there's more than one? " I thought. " And what Hina saw wasn't the ordinary glow of a computer screen. It was the figure of Chihiro, shining pale green." Kyoko said. " I think it would be best if we investigated this laptop in a little more detail.". Kyoko pressed the ON button again and as a laptop is supposed to do, it turned on. After discussing what do do next. Naegi hit a button titled ALTER EGO. Once it was pressed, Chihiro's face appeared on the screen and it spoke.
"Master! You are here" The laptop exclaimed.
" I-It's a ghost! Buddha and sweet baby Jesus, save me!" Hiro yelled in fear. I also felt like screaming to an extant but didn't. I exhaled out.
"Calm down. It's not a ghost" Kyoko sighed.
"Then what is it" Aoi asked.
" I'm sure if we just talk to it, we'll find out." Kyoko began to type on the computer.
>Who are you?
"Hello, nice to meet you. I'm Chihiro Fujisaki" The laptop introduced itself. The laptop sighed "I always get embarrassed when I introduce myself.".
"That voice, the tone, everything" Naegi began.
"It's Chihiro" Sakura said.
"Alter Ego. I've heard about this kind of AI program, but I've never seen one for myself." Kyoko explained.
"If you want to know more, just Google it" Hifumi said ignorantly.
"So he fixed the broken laptop and put his own program on there. That is what this means, yes? Then he brought the machine to this dressing room, where the mastermind would not be able to see it." Celeste summarized. Most people nodded. It was the only thing that really made sense to us.
"Anyways, lets talk to him a bit more" Kyoko said before she started to type again.
>How much do you know about what is going on?
"Master only gave me a general idea. But I do know things have become very grave. He found himself caught up in this without any warning" He said. Kyoko immediately started typing another question.
>Why are you here?
"Are you asking what Master had planned for me? Well, he wanted me to analyze the massive number of files stored on this laptop. I believe the files are related to the school, but the protection on them is surprisingly strong. So it's taking me a little longer than I thought. But here's what Master must have been thinking. The fact that the files are protected so tightly means they must contain some important secret. For example, perhaps, the secret of this school." It said.
"Interesting" I thought.
>How much longer till everything will be unlocked.
"Umm, it's gonna be a while. But I'm definitely gonna do it, so you can just leave it to me!" It exclaimed.
"So because of how long it would take, he designed Alter Ego to handle the workload.?" Kyoko thought out loud.
"Smart. It also means that the work remains uninterrupted, even after his death" Celeste said. Kyoko started typing once again. I was ultimately fascinated by this type of technology. In the SMP, a laptop that could speak to you is completely unheard of. It was somewhat of a shock to me.
>Keep it up. But be careful for the mastermind not to see you
"Don't worry. I've got a secret plan all ready, just in case. Actually, I can see what's going on using my built-in webcam, so if anyone suspicious shows up...." It began. "...I'll just scream for help real loud!".
"Well that a pretty decent plan" Naegi said.
"Its not a problem for the day time. But at night is a bit of a concern" Celeste mentioned.
"Why not?" Naegi asked.
"Remember, the rooms are completely sound soundproof. Once we close our doors, he can screen as loud as he wants but we won't hear a thing." Celeste reminded.
"Okay, then how about once it's nighttime, we each take turns guarding the dressing room?" Naegi suggested.
"Nope, not a chance" I said.
"There's a good chance the mastermind would notice us all going in and out of the dressing room like that." Kyoko mentioned.
"Then what can we do?" Naegi asked.
"Once nighttime comes, I'll leave the door to my room open. Then there's no way I can miss Alter Ego yelling." Kyoko suggested.
"B-But if you leave your door open all night, then..." Hiro began.
"There's a chance I may become a victim myself, I know. But I'm not as weak as you may think. I wouldn't go down without a fight, I assure you." Kyoko said.
"Um, would you mind if I ask you guys a few questions" Alter Ego asked. "I haven't seen Master for a while. When you got here, I thought it was him, but is Master...?". Everyone somewhat froze. So did Kyoko, but she regained her composer and began typing.
>Chihiro is dead. Mondo killed him
"I see... To be honest, I knew all along. I knew the chances that Master would survive this situation were very low. So, I was prepared for this moment." Alter Ego responded sadly. Everyone was also a little bit sad what could they do. I knew I wasn't sad though. I did have a strong enough connection to feel that way. So I stood somewhat aloof in the room. Kyoko typed one last sentence.
>I'll come back later
"Yes, please do! It's a promise, okay? Bye-bye!" Alter Ego said little bit more on the happy side. After a bit more of conversation, we all left the room. I sighed once again. It seemed this whole entire day was filled with sighs and sadness and depression and whatever. I went back to my room to take a nap. Today is already way to hectic for this 43 to 16 year old blue blooded dead guy.
