By the time Lockwood arrived Lucy had put the bags by the front door in a line extra biscuit tins stood outside the bags along with their extra rapiers polished and sharpened.

"What did you find at satchels? I got our kit packed, one set of chains or two?"

Lucy asked as Lockwood set a bag down on the table a grin on his face as he took a look towards the bags lined up at the door.

"Put an extra chain in George's bag, you know he loves to be extra prepared. And to answer your question I got us some dead mens blood and synthetic blood with scent if we need to draw them out...I also just got some extra bomb flares."

Lockwood said pulling the items out of the bag as he listed them. When he pulled out the synthetic blood and scent Lucy and him both made a face of disgust.

"Ugh it's awful, how do vampires find that appetizing?"

Lucy asked as Lockwood set it down hastily his face scrunched with disgust, or he looked as if it pained him to keep it in arms reach, it looked like he would rather throw it in the garbage;as would Lucy.

"I have no godly idea, now all we need is George and we can arrive just before midday."

Lockwood said giving her a quick smile as he put the things in a smaller kit bag that he kept attached to his hip. Lucy took this time to look at Lockwood, she watched his hands as he put the items in the bag his eyes focused as he worked, his eyes were a light brown in the sun his pale skin took a pink tint if he stayed in the hot London sun for too long. George and Lucy teased it was because of his posh past and his brooding nature. She knew very little about his past or his family, all she knew is he was born into a world filled with death and he soon experienced it himself. Just as Lockwood finished and looked up at Lucy a small gently smile spread across his lips, the door smacked open and George emerged.

"I think we're ready to go, all the research I found I can explain on the cab ride over there."

George exclaimed a gleam in his eye that told them he was on a research high and was eager to connect the research to the case. Lockwood and Lucy shared a smile and grabbed their bags as they made their way outside. Once outside to wait for John their usual driver, Lucy turned her head towards the sun closing her eyes feeling the sun beam down on her skin, she could see George doing the same taking a deep breathe beside Lockwood; Lockwood didn't seem to change his expression but she could see him turn his face towards the sun for a second a flash of pain flashed across his face but it soon settled into a expression of calm. It wasn't very often they got to enjoy a moment of peace outside Portland Row, each moment outside was usually spent fighting for their lives against the supernatural.

The cab pulled up and Lockwood loaded their bags into the trunk of the cabbie as they all filed into the backseat the driver giving Lockwood a friendly wave as he pulled away from the curb before giving them a drive estimate, the drive was around a hour and a half away from Portland Row giving George a perfect opportunity to explain his research.

"So there was a reason the town was abandoned in the first place, when the problem started Brekkerborn woods seemed to be one of the places where vampires started to be spotted and attacking. The people back then weren't equipped enough so Fittes and Rotwell evacuated the town leaving the woods to overgrown, until recently a year back the attacks started again after the renovation, looks like they were just hiding until the people came back."
