"Are you sure it's safe here?" Pedri asks, following behind me up the stairs to an old, seemingly abandoned mansion.
"If you're that scared, you should just go home," I reply, turning to face him as I take my phone out of my pocket.
"And leave you here alone? Not a chance," he replies as I text my friend, Allie, to let her know we're here.
Her dad's job in real estate has given us access to many abandoned houses in the area, which a group of college students would gladly take advantage of. It may seem questionable to anyone else, but we've always had a good time throwing parties here.
"Please, you only came because all your friends are in Japan right now."
"That's not true. You're here," he replies as the front door swings open.
"I'm so glad you came," Allie says, pulling me into a hug. "And who is this?" She adds, eyeing Pedri up and down while he awkwardly waves at her.
"This is my friend Pedri. He only came because he had nothing better to do tonight."
"Well, I can give you some ideas, Pedri," she replies, twirling her hair and winking at him.
I turn around to see him, eyes wide with confusion plastered all over his face. I try to hold my laughter, but his face is far too amusing right now.
"Not tonight. I have my own plans," I reply, patting his chest. His eyes widen further as I grab his hand and pull him past Allie into the house.
"You do?" He whispers in my ear as he follows behind me.
"Yes, Pedro. You're always hanging out with the team. You don't know what it's like to have fun with regular people your age," I reply as we get to the kitchen, which has various bottles of alcohol scattered across the table.
"There's no cameras here, no one is watching you. You can actually have fun without worrying about seeing your name all over social media tomorrow," I say as I pour us both a mixture of whatever bottles I see in front of me.
"Are you sure this is safe to drink?" He asks, inspecting the cup I just handed to him.
"We'll find out," I reply, gulping it all down. He does the same, handing me his cup to fill it again.
"That was terrible," he says, a pained expression on his face.
"That's the point."
I refill both of our cups and lead him out to where everyone seems to be gathered. "Come, dance with me." I say, dragging him through the crowd.
"I don't dance," he replies, trying to walk away.
"Tonight you do," I say, grabbing his hand.
He smiles and wraps his arms around my waist as I throw mine over his shoulders. We both sway to the music, entirely off beat and a complete mess.
"I have some ground rules for tonight," I scream so he can hear me over the music.
"Yes mom," he replies laughing.
I roll my eyes and continue, "Don't smoke anything, don't drink from other people and please don't sleep with any of my friends."
"Yes ma'am. Anything else?"
"Have fun," I reply, walking away from him with a smile. His hand grabs mine, pulling me back to him.
"Where are you going?" He asks concerned.
"I'm off to have some fun of my own," I say, nodding my head in the direction of a really cute guy, who's eyes seem to be following my every move.
"Really?" Pedri says, after giving him a short glance. "You're leaving me alone for him?"
