I woke up to the sound of my alarm blaring in my ear, after hitting snooze for the 5th time. My eyes already feel puffy from the sleepless night of worrying. Today is supposed to be the most romantic day of the year, which I feel like I already ruined.
Gavi has been working non-stop in physical therapy to try and come back stronger and better than before. I knew he would be flustered, so I offered to plan our day. This is our first Valentine's Day together, which is why I want it to be perfect.
My panic got the better of me and the best I could come up with was dinner at a fancy restaurant and a walk on the beach.
There's still one thing I didn't plan for yet, his present. Gavi is not the easiest to shop for. I spent weeks searching for the perfect gift and eventually had to turn to Pedri and Fermin to help me get ideas.
I got dressed and ready for the day, finding the most flattering dress my wardrobe could offer. I paced around anxiously in my apartment, waiting for the knock on the door. After what felt like hours, he finally arrives. I wipe my now sweaty palms on the side of my dress and open the door.
A giant bouquet of flowers is the first thing I'm faced with. Lilies, my favourite. Around three in every colour, broken up by sprigs of baby's breath and greenery.
"Gavi?" I call out.
He appears from behind the bouquet, a nervous smile plastered on his face.
"I didn't know which colour you'd like more so I got them all," he responds, looking proud of his selection.
"I don't know what to say," I stumble over my words. He begins to walk in to put it down.
"This is perfect...you are perfect," I whisper while admiring the flowers on my kitchen table and the boy who carried them in. "Thank you," I add, kissing him on the cheek and wrapping myself in his arms.
"I'd love to stay like this forever, but we need to go," he mumbles into my ear, reminding me of the reservation I made for us.
We make our way to the car and drive to our early lunch reservation. Gavi has a doctor's appointment early tomorrow morning, which is why we chose to not stay out late.
"You look beautiful," he says, opening the front door for me once we arrive at the restaurant. I step out of the car, blushing over his words.
Both of us were obviously very nervous. You could easily tell by the way his voice trembled when he first spoke or by how my whole face would fade to red whenever he looked at me.
The next three hours went by smoothly, better than I thought it would. It didn't take long for us to get comfortable with each other again. As much as the relationship is still only 7 months along, we have no reason to be scared anymore. Today should feel just like any other day.
"I'm sorry we couldn't be out longer, but I had a lot of fun today," he says on the drive back.
"Yeah, me too," I respond, already reminiscing the day.
"Wait, Gavi you took the wrong turn," I say, suddenly alert.
"Oh, did I?" he responds with a smirk.
"Pablo Gavira, are you kidnapping me?"
"It's not like you had other plans, right?"
I laugh out loud, covering my mouth with my hands to avoid being too loud.
A few minutes later we arrive at his house. Rose petals are scattered in front of the doorway, slighter blown out of place by the wind. He opens the door, revealing a scene out of a movie.
