Chapter 5

The next day i noticed that miles became distant with me. He would ignore me whenever he would see me in the hallways or even at school. Mia noticed it to. Funny thing is that miles would talk to Mia but he wouldn't speak to me which it made it awkward between us. At first i thought that maybe i did something wrong but It went on like that for a whole year until he suddenly began to talk to me again. I felt hurt and confused because he literally shut me out for a year not talking or messaging me and then all of a sudden he acts like nothing ever happened.

I never did ask him why, i know i should of but there had to be a reason why he did that. Emerson stopped taking to me for some reason. I felt like things weren't the same anymore. Until one day an early afternoon, it was given. i was outside my house with Mia and her little sister eating cherries, as we were eating i was chatting with Mia about her talking to Emerson friend. I found out that she was taking to this guy who's 3 years older than her. His name is Miguel and he's Emersons best friend. He's also friends with jay. But he usually hangs out with Emerson.

As we continue talking and playing with Mia little sister, Miguel passes by on his truck but little did we know Emerson was inside the car with Miguel. As Miguel start taking to Mia, i was focused on playing with Mias sister and at the same time i was trying to ignore Emerson. Emerson noticed i was there so he began calling my name. I heard him but i ignored him since i was still upset with him for shutting me out. As Mia and Miguel kept talking i was watching Mias little sister play with some flowers. After like 10 minutes the guys leave  to Miguel's house. As i was watching them leave, i saw Emerson get off the car walked to the sidewalk and looked at me from far. As i look at him he shakes his head and begins walking home.

I look at Mia and tell her about Emerson. "That's his fault for shutting you out" says Mia. I thought to myself, am i being. To harsh with him or do i have the right to be upset with him. I continue spending my day with the girls until their mother came for them. I went inside to my room and lay down a bit on my bed. As i was just resting a bit i get a message from miles. I look at the message and began reading.

Hey Kaliyah what have you been up to? Sends miles. I smile at the message and reply back. Nothing much, but i do in fact, Have something to ask you tho. Sure, what is it? Says miles. I wasn't sure if i should ask him but i really wanted to know if Linsey was lying or not. So. I wrote " do you remember that day when my friend Linsey went up to you to talk about something. Did she say anything about me? I Send the message even tho i was nervous about his response. It takes about a minute for miles to reply. Suddenly he replies back. " no, all she asked me was if my brother was single and if i wanted to hook up with her but I said no. I can't believe she lied to me. "Oh really? She told me that you guys shared phone numbers." I reply back to him. Miles quickly replies "no that was lie, i never did give her my number."

As i saw his message i thought why would she lie to me. I had to Change the conversation to something else before it gets awkward. So i asked him about other stuff. After we were done chatting, i get a phone call from Mia. It was already late at night so i was surprise of her to be calling me at this time.

As i answer the phone, Mia quickly says "girl i have something to tell you" she says with an exciting voice. Something must of happened I thought. what is it i say. "Okay, so i was on a call with Miguel when all of a sudden Miguel tells me to stay quiet on the phone, i Was confused at first Until he told me that Emerson just arrived to his Miguel's house. So i was on the line when i heard Miguel ask Emerson if he has spoken to you. Emerson then says no because he messed up and tells Miguel that not even with a gift he'll be able to get you back.

As I listen to Mia say that i feel confuse and upset because after everything he did to me now he regrets it but has not apologized to me. As Mia went on about Emerson about him not knowing how to talk about it with me gets me mad since he's not trying to fix our issues, he's just feeling guilty for being a jerk to me. He even told Miguel that you've changed a lot that you're not the same girl you used to be, says mia.

Well obviously, i had to grow up someday. If he didn't like that then that's his problem i say to Mia. Yeah your right, he probably noticed that you're moving on says mia. After i was done talking on the phone with mia, I finished my homework, i stayed in my room just thinking about what Emerson said.

I slowly started getting sleepy but I couldn't sleep just yet. I got up from my bed, went to the living room to get my phone charger but then i hear jay talking to someone on the door. As i get closer i see Emerson talking to my brother. Something seems off, i had a feeling that something might of happen. I quickly run back to my room without them noticing and lay down on my bed. I hope everything is fine i say to myself and slowly i fall sleep.
