He contemplates what would happen if he went to Betty's party, wondering what would happen. Despite his doubtful thoughts, his main aspiration is to make it up to Betty, so he goes. Betty answers the door, and despite the watching crowd, they kiss. James' brain immediately goes to what he missed most, and what he can finally go back to.
