The Masquerade ~ Jonathan Toews

Chapter 20

He never would of thought this could ever happen. He never thought he would fall in love like that. He never thought her plane would go down and be destroyed.

Jonathan stared at himself in the mirror. He adjusted his tie and smoothed out the dark black suit.

If 5 years ago you had told him that his life was going to drastically changed the way it had, he would of never believed you.

Patrick walked in and patted Jonathan on the back. "By tonight, the stress of this will all be over."

Jonathan looked at Patrick then at his hands. "But the feeling is going to still be there."

Patrick put his arm around Jonathans shoulders and directed him towards the large santuary where the event will be held. Jonathan took a deep breath and braced him self for what was to come.

Some of his other teammates were in the backroom. They all hugged him and patted his shoulder.

Jonathan wasnt really sure how today was gonna play out, but he was kinda curious of what was to be seen when he walked out.

Jonathan stood behind the door and took another deep breath. Patrick patted him on the shoulder. Jonathan walked out and walked towards the front. He could feel the eyes on him. Everyone knew this was a big big deal to him.

Jonathan stared in front of him in disbelief. "I cant believe this is actually happening." He whispered to himself. He could feel Patrick presence behind him.

He looked at his best friend and could faintly hear slow music playimg in the background. Eventually he could see Zach running up to him. Zach gave him a big hug then gave one to Patrick as well. Patrick picked him up and held him on his hip.

Jonathan could hear Zachary say, "mommy looks so different."

Jonathan almost broke down at what his little boy had said. The music began to get louder and he looked up. He hadnt even noticed everyone stand up. He was staring at his beautiful bride.

Amy.

He couldnt believe its been two years since they said she wouldn't make it. He remembers seeing her lie in that hospital bed. The doctors had even begun to hint at cutting her off completely. Jonathan held onto the faith that she would smile at him again. Eventually 2 weeks later she did and Jonathan was at her bedside the whole time. They got back together officially and Zach even had begun calling her mommy.

About a year after they started dating, Jonathan had gotten down and proposed to her on the ice after his Stanley Cup win. Amy had immediately said yes and they hugged then kissed as the whole arena cheered. Even Timonen had been happy for them though he hardly knew her.

The wedding was set for the following July and soon they held hands as they said their vows.

For better or for worse.

And to think, this all began because Kasey had dragged her to a stupid masquerade where her first kiss became her favorite kiss.

Jonathan grabbed Amy around the waist and kissed her neck. Tonight was the night, tonight was the night she gave her most precious gift, her virginity, to the man she fell in love with.

She smiled nervously as Jonathan unzipped her dress and it fell to the floor. He smiled at her and then continued to kiss her. She wrapped her arms around his neck as they both fell onto the bed.

Amy awoke to sound of her alarm and smiled at the thought of what had occured last night. She felt Jonathan wrap his arm around her waist.

"Five more minutes." He spoke into her neck. She giggled as it tickled her skin.

"Come on Jonathan," She turned to face him, "we have a plane to catch."

They had planned on revisting Paris and then travelling through Europe while they were there. Amy was excited and if any of the rest of the nights were like last night, ahe was really going to enjoy her new husband.

Husband.

She smiled at the sound of that.

She ran her hands through Jonathans hair. "I have an idea."

"What?"

"While we're in London, we should act like we dont speak English."

Jonathan giggled at his wife's comment, "I'm cool with that." He looked under the covers, "If i'm quick, what do you say to a round two?"

Amy smiled as Jonathan climbed on top of her.
