Jonathan stared at cellphone vibrating in his hand. He wasnt in the mood to talk to anyone. That was, until the same person called him three times and left three voicemails as well.
The vibrations from the phone was driving Jonathan insane. He finally gave up and put the phone to his left ear.
"What do you want, Patrick?" Jonny didn't even try to not sound annoyed. He wanted to be alone. What that too much to ask?
"Well, good afternoon to you to, Sunshine." Jonathan could feel Patrick's smile on the other line. Typical Kaner. Knows exactly how to push your buttons when you're in the worst mood.
"Shut up, Kane. I'm not in the mood for your annoying attitude." Jonathan wasn't even sugar coating anything. He was pissed.
"Then I guess it's not a good time to tell you about Amy." Jonathan immediately sat up.
Amy.
They hadn't had a full conversation in months. He missed her. He really did.
"Did something happen?" Jonathan stared at the wall in front of him. He was pointing out every crack or mishap with the paint. Anything to get his mind off of Amy.
"She left the country. She's in France now." Patrick seemed hesitant. He wasn't sure how Jonathan was gonna react.
"And she didn't tell me?!" Patrick knew it. Now Jonathan was beyond pissed.
"Well, you guys weren't talking so she didn't really find any need to tell you." Patrick paused. "She wanted to stay, I could tell, but this is a once in a lifetime deal here. She couldn't pass it up. She'll be back in five months. I promise."
"Goodbye, Patrick. I need to go." Jonathan immediatly hung up the phone, cutting Patrick off with whatever he was gonna say
"But-"
"Goodbye." Jonathan's finger nearly cracked the screen with how hard he hit the 'End' button.
He slowly stood up from his position in the chair.
Amy was gone.
He slipped on his worn down sneakers and headed for the door, grabbing his coat along the way. The black north face slipped onto his arms with ease as the door shut behind him.
The hallway never felt so long before. Every turn seeming to be a mile apart from each other. He finally found the elevator and bushed the down button.
He needed to get his racing mind off of her. Nothing was making any sense to him. Why did she just leave? How long is her complete stay? Why didn't she tell him?
The last guestion bugged him the most. Of all the things to forget while packing it was to tell him?
He slipped into his dark car and turn on the engine. The drive slipped by with his mind speeding faster than he was driving. France? Why?
The bar was small, but it got the job done. Plus it also meant that not many people would recognize him.
His night slowly slipped away into nothingness shot after shot. He was feeling better, but not so much in the morning. Right now, all he had to think about was the blonde dancing on to of him.
Life was good...until the sun came up.
The blaring alarm ripped into Jonathan's ears. He yelled in pain and slammed his fist into the device. It fell on the floor and disconnected from the wall.
Jonathan didnt even notice the alarm wasnt his. He wrapped the foreign blankets around his cold body and snuggled into the bed.
That didn't last long. He was up and running to the bathroom before you could even say 'hangover'.
As the contents of his stomach spilled into the toilet he heard chuckling from behind him.
"You miss her."
Jonathan stood up and looked at the body of the voice.
"I'm fine."
"No you're not. Jonny, I dont want you to start drinking. Don't be stupid."
Jonathan looked at Patrick. He was right. Always has been.
"I figures you'd be at the bar. I came and found you last night. I didn't want you getting hurt."
"She's gone. And she didn't even say goodbye."
Patrick wrapped Jonathan in a hug.
"Girls are overrated. Pals before gals right?"
Jonathan broke the hug. He looked straight into Patrick's eyes.
"Its hard when you actually loved this one."
